Mobile paint repair disaster.

Lots of clay and be sure to tell your client to make a post on Angie's list about this guy.

Good point about the Angie's list, thanks!

Yes, I finally have a reason to break out the more aggressive clay that I have.

The overall car will be a good experience and as long as I can take good pics it will be a great addition to the portfolio.

Keep the positive attitude and you'll zipp through this in no time \m/

The trim/rubber moldings is where you will get hung up. The car is for sale and all, right? Most ppl will not notice near as many flaws as You or I would /:)

Sorry this had to happen to this poor Client of yours..

I dont know how anyone can actually do mobile paint repair correctly outside in the first place. Oh, thats right, this clown probably works out of the trunk of his trash-mobile, right ?? :):):)

I still like to use 0000 steel wool on all glass and sometimes on chrome on some painted trims-lightly, to remove overspray.

A fast dry lacquer thinner works wonders on removing overspray from rubber trim too..

Amazing that the expert didnt even do a Prep-Sol type wipedown all around that area in the place - but then again, if he had, it would have ruined even more paintwork that was an innocent bystander..

Good luck with this, take your time, tackle only 1 panel at a time, and see how it goes..

The RED clay magic works well for over spray but may leave marring that needs polishing to remove.

New razor blades work great on windows for overspray.

Ive had a few of these mobile painters mess up my jobs before too but nothing as bad as you described!@-)

I get mine at our local automotive paint store Grungy but I am sure you can find it online as well. Its also important to use their recommended clay lube or the marring can be really bad . Its really a very aggressive clay bar.

Thanks a lot Dan, going to work on it right now actually, no turkey for this guy.

Yeah my client got home and the guy was apparently spraying the car in the dark, can you believe that??!!

Thanks for the advice on the steel wool, good thing I picked some up last time I saw it.

Thanks for the advice DC, I actually have the Red clay you are talking about, this will be the first time I've needed to use it. The blue clay is awesome, BTW.

Also got some new razor blades, so I'm hoping everything should look better.

Obviously, when I'm done it won't be a finished product since I'm stripping off everything the guy did, the car will still need some touch-up work done. But the areas of the car that are just overspray will be back to normal.

I'm bringing the camera with me right now, so I'll try to add pics to this thread later.

I know of two brothers here in omaha that do mobile painting and it is absolutely stunning the work they can perform outside :) But yes ive seen work like this too and have had to fix it. If you cant pull all the new clear off, if you trust yourself you can get some super heavy grit compound and use a rotary polisher and cut it off the car. Thats what I usually do in these scenarios. I'll even use my light cut compound on the windows then just scrape the edges. Plus you'll remove hard water spots too
