Mobile Gas - Touchfree Carwash

Well, it may not damage your car in a technical sense, but the cleaners they use will not do you cars finish, any favors......

Of course, I mean the drying mechanism could fall on your car I suppose. If you mean the paint, I would say it probably could and might, but I don't know the specifics of a mobil station. Does it touch your paint? How is it being dryed? etc

It's just a few pressure wash jets and then it drys with a big fan. I am considering using one today and I don't want to if it may cause any type damage.

Well, I use a touchless all the time in the winter just to keep salt off the car and they usually have an underbody spray that I use to get the salt off the under caridge too.

Naa its fine. You're going to have to wax more often, and you dont want to dry it yourself without using a waterless wash or a QD on it but it wont hurt your car. Get the wash without all the "clearcoat brighteners" but with the most spray. I use them all the time in the winter, drive home, and hit the car with Poorboys Spray and Wipe. Looks great, doesnt turn me into an icesicle. Run a search for "Touchless Carwash" lots of viewpoints.

As long as nothing touches your car. Sometimes the attendants try and help and dry the car for you, dont let them do that...

I don't think I'll be draggin my car through one.......Last winter I went through them a few times on ridealongs with the local PD to get the cruiser clean - the one we went through (A Mobile)reminded me of two firehoses blasting each side of the car and then an air dryer that took a pretty good smash off the hood. The car looked better than when it was covered in salt, but I didn't want to think of what we had just done to the paint.

Well, all carwashes recycle their water. Its a question of how well the system scrubs it. The one I use seems very clean (you can more or less tell) and I've never had problems. They're not all created equal though, so shop around.

The air blower took a swatch out of the hood? How did it manage to do that?

I'd find out if they are recycling thier water. If so, there is no telling what it may contain if the filtration system isn't maintained properly.

You have to remember that the person who maintains the system is the same guy who asks "paper or plastic" when you buy something in the MobilMart!
