Mobile detailing?

Quite a few guys, including myself, work out of the trunk of a car. I have a garage, though and I split time between the two.

I work out of the trunk of my car as well.

I drive a VW Jetta with two subs in the trunk as well and I still have room to carry everything I need. Although I admit, I have been looking recently to get a new vehicle with a hatch back or something for more carrying space.

Can you guys post pics of the products in your cars? I am def no pro really do not plan on doin this proffessionaly but I enjoy detailing. I have friends at work that want me to detail their cars and I was goin to have them come to my house where I have a 2 car garage but my landloed decided last week they are movin back in so I am goin to be goin back to an apt till I buy a house so in the mean time I was thinking of how I can still detail for friends and family by goin to their place.

I work out of a 3 series coupe. Bucket goes in the back with soap + apc bottles + wheel cleaner in it. Rubbermaid tote with everything else goes beside it. Extensions and rotary go in front of truck and halogen tree sits on top of that. Microfiber + pads go in rear seats.

I'll try to get a couple pictures tomorrow. Using ONR as my washing method really helps me save space. Plus my Maxima gets a lot better mileage than most trucks or SUVs get.

i detail out of a nissan xterra...

hot water extractor with hose

two 30 gallon bins - one for lots of towels, and one for products

one dewalt tool bag

one meguiars pad bag

one hitachi rotary box for more pads

16 gallon vacuum with hose

16 gallon water tank

picollo steamer

step ladder

sometimes a canopy - either on the roof or inside

You can get a big bin at almost any big box store and keep all your supplies in that. If you need to bring your own water you could buy some 5 gallon buckets that have tops on them. Sometimes people don’t have a hose hookup so bringing the water is a must.

When I was mobile I had

2 big bins for supplies ( one for clean and one for dirty )

3or4 buckets of water

1 detail bag for rotary and pads

1 garden hose

3 very long extension cords

1 shop vac

And I’m sure I’m missing something. But I made it all fit into every car I had at the time.

@ 30 premium microfibers for polishing / waxing sealing

@ 15 terry towels

@ 15 middle of the road microfibers for door jambs, wheels, etc...

3 large microfiber drying towels

4 waffle weave drying towels

2 microfiber glass towels

I detail out of the back of my Lexus IS250. Thankfully it has a huge trunk but I have recently used my moms van and I wish I could use it all the time.

I bring Durrmaid Extractor, Shopvac, Halogen, Creeper Stool, 4-5 buckets filled with products, MF's, and PADS. 3 Extension cords, Foam Gun. Probably some more that I have missed as well.

if you need 3 extension cords, you better be using some thick guage ones...(assuming long = 100ft) 300ft of 16 guage is squeezing power into your tools..300ft of 10guage is letting the flow free...

I carry probably 100+ MFs all the time (have around 300 or so) and 30-40 terry cloth towels. Always better to have to many than too few.

I might be wrong, but he probably isn't using them inline. One for roary, one for lights, one for vac. That's how I do it, minus the vac.
