Mobile detailing out of a compact car?

Over the 4th of July weekend I traded in my 03 Dodge Ram 1500 for a 05 Corolla LE. Went from 11mpg to 30 something mpg!

Now I have to find some space saving ideas to fit stuff into my trunk. The rear seats fold down, but I'm trying not to go with that configuration permanently.

I know Scottwax and others detail from compacts, so if any pros want to share some space saving ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe check out getting some plastic tubs that can stack ontop of each other... Can then pull them out on the job and open them up and you'll have access to everything.

Maybe also try to put as much as you can in stuff that's easy to carry so you can clear out your car easily when you want to use it. Like duffel bags for towels and pads...

I have a huge plastic tub for all my products. Keeps them all together and allows me to compartmentalize them. I have all my towels in plastic basket that you use for laundry. That I can stack or whatnot. I have a pretty strong vacuum that is portable, which saves me a lot of space. Those have been the biggest aides for me. But, I'm no pro.

I'll have to go through my photohost gallery and find the pic that shows how my trunk is set up tomorrow. It is nearly 1 AM (just got back from seeing Anchorman-very funny!) and I need my beauty sleep. With about 700 pics, it may take some time.

I think there is a thread in this forum with the picture, but I don't remember the thread title. :nixweiss

NHBFAN ,

I've been working on your dilema for some time , I'm going to be getting rid of my truck next year and going down to my VW Bug so I won't have any trunk space. Here's a trailer I found that will tow behind pretty much anything and I've figured out a layout to fit pretty much everything a one man mobile operation would need , including a small generator. I'll post the layout I have later today. Here's the trailer for now.

Thanks for the replies.

Right now I have a 5 gallon bucket sitting inside a milk crate that takes up a fair amount of room. But I was planning on using it to store wet mitts and dirty MFs when I finish a job.

Any other good ideas on where to store dirty towels when you're finished a job?

I use 3 plastic bins (with lids) for all of my products. They go along the back seat. One has wash mitts, towels, pads... another has everything for a wash, polish, and wax job, and the third has everything I need for a more serious paint defects, and to do a full interior detail.

I use some cheap 97 cent buckets from wall mart to put water for QEW in, and after that I throw towlels and stuff in them. When they arent being used, they stack up nicely.

I take a 5 gallon bucket for my water and stick it in the front passenger floor, then I push the seat all the way up to wedge it in there, so it doesnt fall over or anything.

Vacuum, mf towel container, and halogen light stuff goes in the trunk. Id probably put more stuff in the trunk, but ive got some extra sound equipment in there lol :D
