Mobile Detailing...here goes!

I would listen to what he has to say. If it looks good, get a lawyer involved. This is well worth the money.

Just got back from lunch with him. Says he is too busy and has his brother taking care of the accounts...he has the money and wants more rigs and also shop space. Pretty much telling me he will get me whatever I need to get cracking.

I suggested that he pay me a salary for the first while and a percentage once things get up and running. As it stands right now his existing accounts are only on thursday, friday and saturday.

Ill post more info once I figure out what im gonna do.

So you are going from working for someone.....to going on your own (mobile), back to, pretty much, working for someone?

Im not sure yet. To tell you the truth, I would like to buy it. I sent him a nice lengthy email stating exactly what will have to happen for me to work for him, including interest in the company.

Still in the "feeling out" stages.. I am still doing vehicles for myself at this point.

If this guy has a lot of money, he made it by being smart. While he may offer you a decent deal, there will likely be caveats--- non-competition clauses, for example. So if you don't like how he compensates you after a few months, you'll be stuck not being able to start your own detailing biz in your area. This scheme is not uncommon.

Have a lawyer look at the paperwork before making any commitments.

Sounds pretty good to me. It gives you the opportunity to start your business without actually having to spend your own money. Then just get something in writing where you can buy it from him in the future.

Phew! Glad I didnt depend on that guy...

After talking with him at lunch the other day, I gave him a very nice location of a shop I know is available for lease (too big for my own interest). It sits just behind a big "self wash" operation, I have spoken with the owner several times in the past about leasing just one of the three bays, but he wants them all leased by the same person.

I put him in contact with the owner of the shop, and they struck up a deal for the whole thing on monday night. Tuesday morning I called and left a message asking if he had received my email about compensation..etc, and how the dealings on the shop went.

He called me back promptly and said he was now leasing the shop space and praised me for finding it. He told me that he had received my email and that he had been too busy to reply, told me to call back later that afternoon and we would discuss it. Well, I called him back twice yesterday afternoon and once last night and he would not answer my calls, to this point he hasnt replied to my email either.

I wonder if he got what he wanted in the shop and feels no need to have me around anymore with such a good location for his new space?

Anyhow, like I said, glad I didnt bet the farm on him.
