Mobile Detail Skid

That is a perfect unit for what you will be doing. I can send you some info for the home cleaning chemicals and tips.

In my opinion, if you had a truck or trailer, you could get into house washing (commercial as well) for around 2000.00. That would be for your pressure washer, hose, tips, wands, and chemicals.

If you're already set up for mobile detailing with a pressure washer like I was, it only cost me about 500.00 to move into this market.

With the right set up, you will not have to use a ladder.....well maybe on rare circumstances when you can't reach a gutter. I've done 5 homes to date. The first took me 5 hours.......I'm at 2.5 hours now per home. I'm averaging 300.00 per home. This is not in no ways a bragging session.....it's a motivating one. 4 weeks ago I was worried about my income and now I'm not.

Anyone feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks to all.

I don't take it as a bragging type thing. I think it's great man that things are getting better for you. I am now in the boat that you were in a couple weeks ago. Bills need to be paid, detail work fell off the planet and i'm left to sit here and stress on what i'm going to do to make sure that the bills get paid.

I'm at the point where i'm willing to do what i need to in order to survive. I love the detail world and i will never leave it but i might have to focus on other aspects of the business and see where i can make a little extra cash by possibly doing some home pressure washing to try and supplement some income.

I'm not familiar with home chemicals though and that is the only thing that worries me.

I'm trying to absorb everything you mention and use it as motivation to get out there and try to keep pushing even though times are really rough.

Bad thing is a lot of those guys are talking about GPM and it's making me re-think that pressure washer as it's not even 3 GPM's LoL.

It is about GPM. You're not "pressure" washing but you are "power" washing. It's all about the chemicals working and then rinsing them off. Will 3 GPM work? Heck yes.......but just not as fast. I wouldn't worry about it till you have 3 lined up a day and then you should have enough money to upgrade your pump. I'm personally finding that 3 GPM is the perfect medium for detailing and power washing.

As far as worrying about the chemicals, its like this...Did learning the PC bother you? Probably but you got over it with practice and repetition. The same will happen with homes. There are a lot less steps than detailing too!

I hear ya on that. The X Jet appears to be a pretty neat thing so you don't have to run any sort of chemicals through the pump. I like that idea that way you keep the pump fairly clean and free of any harsh chemicals.

It's a learning curve. I'm still researching stuff in hopes to finally settle on something. I'm working on trying to let people know about wash, spray wax and tire shine deal. Trying to get started on marketing that in hopes that it will bring a little bit of business, trying to get the website done and just pray for work right now. It's all i can really do for now.

I still feel like i have a ton to read regarding everything from the house stuff to marketing the rest and continuing my research for stuff.

If you downstream, you're putting the chemical injector AFTER the pump and it goes through your pressure hose still. X Jet requires an additional hose and you carry the bucket with you as you go.

Downstreaming is the best way to go.

I'm having a small car muffler welded onto my Honda washer next week. Should be a lot quieter.

I was pondering how feasible that was last week. Please post back and tell me how it goes.

make your own?? its just an engine with a pump head. you can get a small engine from harbor freight and a pump head from a supplier. you might need an uploader and bypass kit, but just depends on how much you are willing to spend. i can get pumps as low as $400 and as high as $1200, for just the pump. engine from $200 and up. but to do it all for $800, might need to buy used off craigslist or ebay. i know shipping out that way would be murder, so look local first. google comet, cat, ar pumps and see if there is a dist close to you. i can get you a deal on the tank, 60 gallon but have to figure shipping. PM if you want a price.

So just Buy engine and pump set (Bolts, Plate and Bypass) and bolt pump to engine?
