mobile crew

TG,

Exactly, call a spade a spade! The service Jim is using the Board to market is, IMO, an ONR type wash. A water tank on wheels with three or four spray bottles does not a detailer make. Face it, proper detailing of a $200k + car is, at least for us, a 20-30 hour venture. And, I'm not for sure but, I'm thinking I could do about two of those at $29.00 before we had to change our business model.

Just sayin'

So, since my original inquiry of this thred has pretty much been answered...has anybody ever wondered if Bozo The Clown is a true redhead??

Well, i am very satisfied with my first weekend at the golf course.. 12 inside/outside jobs on Saturday. 6 outside only jobs. 16 in/out jobs sunday. 4 outside only jobs. Flat rate of 30 inside, 30 outside. Just me and my brother working.. Thats $1980. Also brought in $740 in tips. So we are looking at roughly $2700. Saturday was from 7am till 8pm. Sunday was from 7am till 8pm, BUT 2 golfers that lived in the neighborhood had me come to thier house to do thier vehicles (for the same price). Next weekend, I am bringing an extra guy with me because it was just too much for 2 people.. I paid my brother 600 for both days work.. not bad cash for a college kid working part time! So yeah, i am satisfied with my new 'weekend work'..

Drew,

Wow, you seem to know everything. For a while, I thought you were one of the good guys, now seems as if your knuckles drag when you walk and are a stereo typical Neanderthal Detailer.

TG, I agree with you on the Detail definition. I have been a champion of trying to differentiate Maintenance & Prevention Detailing from Restoration. Trying to be part of the solution not the problem.

Drew, last time, here is my phone number 949.257.8448. Either give me a call or get back on the porch, let the big dogs roll!

Flawless,

Congrats on the CC work!! Hope that continues to work well for you!!

Yep, Jim, you're right. I have been told on several occasions that many of these forums are bad news, just a forum for people to attack and berate others all for their own cause(s), which seems to be your case. So, raher than continue to deal with your banter and continued efforts to sell me a franchise, I am going to go ahead and cancel my memberhsip to this forum as you seem to polute the forum with your continued self-promotion and effort to market yourself and your product. I came here with the intent of networking and gaining information and access to new products. Your continued attacks have just completely turned me off this Forum. Wish you well in your efforts!!

Thanks!!

Yo Flawless,

I cannot "sell" you a Franchise. Wow, you leave on my account?

I champion the model.

I can tell you that this model is rapidly expanding, despite the criticisms.

My personal opinion, and a real bias, is that most in this industry are not very well trained. Some are very well trained and experienced, but are technicians. Very good at the technical aspects of the industry, but lack the business acumen.

Me, I am voraciously trying to elevate my core competencies in the technical aspects. I have elected, by choice, not to get into the wet sanding type stuff, but to focus on the Maintenance & Prevention Detailing around a Water $mart Eco Detailing platform. I am very open to learning new techniques. I have no ego to deal with as I get challenged on this, many can attest that I have changed and evolved my thinking and process as a result of engaging in this active debate.

All I can tell you is that in So California, the stars and moons are aligning.

Most people are not right for a Franchise. Contact me, and I will point you in the right direction of how to replicate many aspects of this model. As I believe that a win for this model is a win for the industry.

I spend a lot of time with City and State government agencies. They have a very low opinion of our industry, very low. I am concerned that they will fix the solution like killing a mosquito with an elephant gun ... so I am trying to protect my investment and advocate a more reasonable standard and code enforcement process.

I think that Mobile Detail rigs with big trailers pulled by big vehicles, or sets ups in a big Van are all headed for the Smithsonian ... dinosaurs, IMHO.

And lately, I can tell you, I am proving that.

Anyone who has contacted me personally, I have given my time and energy, and never have tried to sell them a Franchise ... reality is I can't.

There seems to be value for many on the technical advice and other advice here ... why would you leave ... that my friend is a bad business decision IMHO.

No offense, but that does not make a whole lot sense. Why would you continue to operate inefficiently, when there are much more efficient ways to operate. This attitude is exactly why many big corporations, and individuals for that matter, are in so much trouble. The efficient companies are the ones that will continue to exist long after the in-efficient ones are long gone. As always though, everyone is entitled to operate the way they wish.

i think i am being very efficient! my customers pay for my milleage (50 cents per mile round trip), I get my water tank filled for free at the local fire department, and my supply cost is rediculously low. Where am i going wrong here? please tell me.. You know the last time I CLEARED 2000 dollars in 2 days? umm.. never! So my 'inefficient' way paid my house note and all my bills for the month! let me know where im going wrong please..

For the time being keep the system that your comfortable with and that makes you money. I encourage you open your mind to the possibility of a waterless wash system.

Why, cut labor, does a better job in most cases (not all), easy to train new help on, GOOD FOR THE PLANET (Yes that matters to) .

I'll tell you the worst part of going waterless for me was realizing I knew about it all along and never incorporated into my business.

You had a killer weekend at the club. Now it is time to take it to the next level, introduce waterless, hire help, you put down the wash mit and chamois and step back and count the money.

Man, if you can show me a way to get that clean without water, then i will be next in line to purchase it! ha

I am not 100% waterless. You can take my pressure washer out of my cold dead hands!

I do use it on a good 70-80% of the cars I do. Some weeks 100%. I always carry my equipment for jobs just like you posted.

Just to throw this out there.

I got a gallon of ONR last week and I am trying it out. I'd like to try something before I pass judgment on it. I used it on my wifes car and it seemed to work well enough in that case. But her car is silver and doesn't show scratches well.

It should work on most vehicles. The idea is to cut cost on having a crew that can make me more money than me by myself.

still pretty curious.. i see some youtube video's, but i want to hear it from the pro's! i also see good things about the power ball for paint on youtube, but alot of you said its garbage, so thats why i want your input. thanks guys!
