Mlb 2010......

Simply a "hedge" Barry

I'm actually a Tampa Bay fan because I live here now but growing up I always had 2 teams anyway, The Red Sox and any team playing the Yanks!

I'm actually a Rays fan too. I've been a Red Sox fan long before the Rays came into being, but being raised in Dunedin (Go Falcons!)you can't help but root for the home team, especially when they're playing the "evil empire".

Well, being a Mets fan, I also have two teams. The Mets and anyone playing the Yankees. See how much we have in common?

I'll bet I'm the only Royals fan here!!!

Grienke gets off to a great start, Cy Young winner, allows only 2 unearned runs in 7 innings. Royals lead by 4.

Then came the bullpen. :banghead: (Complimented by the worst defense in baseball) :toetap05::toetap05::toetap05:

It's going to be a long season.

Two Royals fans!! Sat and watched that debacle the other day out at The K and thought to myself, "good to see the Royals already in mid-season form!"

I guess I'll root for the Royals since I live in the area, but I still have a soft spot in the heart for St. Louis. It goes back to my grandmother, who followed them religiously ever since they were the St. Louis Browns. :cornut: Her several decades of loyalty rubbed off a little, I guess.

I also hope the Royals have a good year

Im in Cincinnati but have no dillusions of any kind of titles the big red machine stalled years ago. Worked all through opening day diddnt even listen.

Boy, we are really stomping a mudhole in you guys. Wonder how todays game will turn out :toetap05:

Sat in the upper deck yesterday here in KC to watch the reigning Cy Young winner, Zack Grienke pitch well and turn over a 4-2 lead to the bullpen, only to watch his lead turn into a 8-4 defeat! :banghead:

It's only Opening Day and the Royals are in mid-season form.

Had a blast though, I love Opening Day. It was hard to come to work today though.

I wish our AAA afiliate had a game today. Its a sure sign Spring is here and Winter is gone :)

Colorado Rockies

Regards,
GEWB

Those pesky Rockies...You for sure can never underestimate there abilitys :Snowman:

Tampa Bay finally has a bona fide closer. Could be their year. If not, I always have my Red Sox!!! The perfect home opener for them Sunday night.

(Hey, wait a minute, it's still HOCKEY SEASON!)

Tampa Bay is a serious contender. I beleive TB has more raw talent then any other team in the league :Santa Smiley:

Now hold on there my friend. How can you root for two teams in the same division? Isn't that against the rules?

Truth be told, I have at least 5 teams I pull for

1) Cardnials
2) Giants
3) Rays
4) Texans
5) Braves

I know thats messed up of me, but thats just the way it is :Innocent:

Back in the early 80's the Royals were owned by one of my very first clients. I remember the year they won the World Series. You would have thought they played here. We had a parade and everything. I can remember it like it was yesterday :partaaay:

I got a feeling this will be the Royals best season in a decade Da Rules!

I wasn't aware the Cards made a trade for Rick Ainkiel. That guy will prove to be a great addition to your team :money:

Here's the deal on the Royals.

As long as there is no salary cap, the big market teams will dominate the sport. Small market teams like the Royals will never stand a chance. We will never see another championship here in KC again. (Possibly never see a decent team again!:o) It's too bad that it has evolved into this, but it's all about the money. :banghead:

But I'll be a fan because I love baseball.

Yup, there are so many things wrong with baseball right now, it's really frustrating. The Luxury Tax they started a few years ago did absolutely nothing to the Yankees, Mets, Sox of the world, that "tax" doesn't mean sh*t to them.

I'm all for a salary cap, but they also need to implement a salary floor as well, to keep the David Glass' of the world from simply owning a team to make money and not even try. Same goes for the Owner of the Pirates.

There are MANY, MANY things wrong with baseball right now, but I still love it and I will still go to The K quite a few times with my 5 year old and we'll have fun every time we go out.

It's never that black & white. While I do agree that the odds are better for the big market teams, it still depends on sound planning and smart decisions within the organization. You can spend freely (e.g. NY Mets) and still lay an egg. Then again, you can be frugal (e.g. Twins, Marlins) and still compete consistently through savvy GM decisions. I know the Marlins are criticized every year for being cheapskates (Their annual payroll is less than what A-Rod makes every year), yet they've won two World Series in the last fifteen years and were a threat to make the playoffs (before fading down the stretch) in quite a few of those years. I bet some of the "big market" teams would love to have the same success as the Marlins have had.

That being said, I would love to see a salary cap. I think it would level the playing field more. I also think it would take away the only advantage (albeit a huge one) the Yankees have over the Red Sox and that, in the end, is all I care about.

Well, Jonny Gomes fed me a can of shut up juice yesterday

Can't help but wonder if he may be a lurker here @ Truth In Detailing and didn't like my response :scared:
