Mix AJ with AJT ???

I have both AJ and AJT. I find myself using the AJT a lot more often simply because it's so much easier to use. Consequently, I have almost a full bottle of AJ and maybe a half bottle of AJT.

Instead of just letting the AJT bottle get used up while the AJ collects dust, I was thinkink of maybe adding 1/4 or 1/2 of the botttle of AJ to AJT. Hopefully, this would result in a spray-able hybrid of the two products, thus stretching the AJT and using up the AJ in a sprayable manner.

Any opinions if this would be a good or bad idea?

You would be correct sir!

I emailed them, and within 24 hours, and on a weekend, I received a very specific respnse. Excellent customer service IMO.

Here's the response:

Hi Steve,

Thank you for contacting the Werkstat with your product questions.

We're glad that you're enjoying the AJT so much! Chemically, there will be no problems with mixing AJ and AJT. While their ingredient list is not the same, everything is still compatible, and the two will combine homogenously. By mixing them, you will get something of a hybrid between the two. It should end up slightly thicker than AJT alone but still thin enough for spray application. It may spray a bit more clumpy but nothing that would be a deal-breaker. Since the overall performance of AJ and AJT are so close, you shouldn't notice too much of a difference beyond the application phase.

We would suggest that you mix up a small amount (an ounce or so) at your intended ratio (1 part AJ to 1 part AJT or 1 part AJ to 2 parts AJT, etc). (We wouldn't suggest a ratio that goes beyond that and uses more AJ than AJT.) Then give it a try to ensure that you will be happy with the resulting formula before mixing it all. There's obviously no going back once it's all mixed!

We think it will probably work well for your situation and will help to make better use of the sidelined AJ. So, it's not a bad idea at all, but just give it a test first to confirm your happiness with the results.

If you have any follow up questions, please feel free to reply to this message.

Happy Detailing!
