Mirafiber

My sister purchased something from The Shopping Channel.

They are cloths called "Mirafiber".

She's pretty green and does not like using chemicals for cleaning.

Well they arrived, and boy do they work wonders.

With just a bit of water they cleaned all the grease and dirt off my black stove and fridge with ease.

Might just be a Canadian thing, but has anyone yet tried them on their paint?

No lint either.

They look like a large napkin.

The Ultimate Cloth - Cleans Miracle Streak Free, Spot Free, Lint and Dust Free every time! Exclusive technology Mirafiber. The Ultimate Streak Free Cleaning Cloth.

They may just be cleaning, I don't know how well they would work dry. (ex. to remove wax...etc)

If it were not -10*C here I would try some product on my car and use the cloth.

Just a heads up, they might have some use in the detailing world.

I'm thinking windshield, dash, leather for sure..

They took vasaline off the black stove with no streaks or remnants just as easy as they had shown on TV.

I have never seen nor used them, but if you are curious to see if they would scratch the paint, you can always try the CD test to see what the results are.

There are tons of different microfibers. It doesn't have to be a thick plush towel to be microfiber.

It looks and feels nothing like microfiber, sorry.

All of the descriptions, images, and diagrams on that site show identical characteristics to microfiber... this looks to be a microfiber towel marketed under a name (think q-tip to cotton swab) which makes sense.

Microfiber has long been using the cleaning industry (outside of auto detailing) specifically in the hotel/hospitality industry due to its durability and ability to clean without chemical assistance.

This diagram shows a text book microfiber cross section and the components listed (polyamide and polyester) are the exact same as microfiber.

What the component ratios are would determine whether or not its "paint safe" but I promise you... this is a microfiber towel. The comparisons they make between the 2 reference characteristics of cheap/low quality MF... I'd like to see them put up similar information comparing a GOOD mf and their product.

Is it a flat weave towel? Can you take some pics showing what it really looks like?

It could be like HD Car Care Eco wipes, which are $4 for 12... But IMO they arent paint safe.

If this is what I think it is, it is actually Mira Cloth. It could be that they are marketing it as Mirafiber on the shopping network. If it is in fact Mira Cloth, you can Google it, it is a great little cloth to have in your detailing bag, and around the house, as mentioned above for that matter. I use them to clean my windows with no cleaner. Just wet them, wring them out, and wipe down your windows. Then sit back and watch the water dissapear with no streaks what so ever. Great for wine glasses, glass showers, counter tops, etc... I would NOT use these on my paint. I only use the to clean my glass.
