mirafiber..anyone?

Anyone heard of mirafiber? supposed to be 8-10 times thinner filaments than MF. My mom swears by these ultimatecloths she got of the internet so I looked them up thinking they were just MF towels...looks interesting anyone know about them?
 
I must have spent an hour reading all the hype on a couple sites about that.

They sure make it sound good but they are proud of them $$$$$$$$
 
Never heard of the product before, but it definitely does pique my interest. There was plenty of skepticism about microfiber early on, and the pricing was certainly higher than it is now. Now that I'm aware, I will probably watch with some interest to see if other outlets don't become available. I will probably have some in my possession before its all over. :surrender

BTW RTexasF, microfiber also lays claim to cleaning (and sanitizing IIRC) with water alone so no new claims to that ability.

Well you could do a review of them and let your friends here at DC know what you think about them. :idea :drool:
 
I went on the Mirafiber website and read through its claims and how its made, but strangely I could not find one picture of the product on their site, nor a demonstration of it working in any type of application. Fo being labeled as such a super towel they don't exactly put on the effort to display their product.

I found a demo on HSN or QVC or something by a Professor (?) a cleaning "expert" who also has his own line of cleaning products. Glass and mirrors were the subjects. Wouldn't base my opinion based on what I saw on TV.

Did you order direct from the mfg or did you find another outlet (besides HSN)? Looks like PayPal is the only option on the Mirafiber website.
 
Sounds like a load of crap to me, water alone has zero cleaning ability and I don't see how any cloth with only water will clean everything they claim.

Sure it can clean up dust and light dirt only because it sticks to a damp towel better then a dry one but it can not clean grease and oil like they claim with this towel.

What I've seen is cleaning glass (mirrors and windows) and cooking oils/grease from countertops and cooktops. A damp MF towel will have little to no problem handling those jobs. If we're talking automotive grease and oil, then though they might be able to clean that up, depending on the surface, you're probably talking about tossing those towels so a disposable wiper would be the better choice.

Stuff is about the thickness of 2 papertowels. Feels like woven tyvek

It will certianly not replace micrfiber for removing polish/wax/sealant. Don't know how it "cleans". I certainly wouldn't use it on my paint to "clean", I'm not even sure I would trust it to use for a "final buff". It might be good on glass, but then again there is alot of stuff out there that is good on glass etc.

So far, very dissappointed, as the marketing is not what I am seeing with the items.

He Ron, how are you. Man since you buy everything, I have a "Super Duper Towel" You can clean, glass, paint, baby butts, wheels, houses and many other surfaces. You can strech the cloth from 16"x16" to sizes up to 26' x 26'. But wait, these still more, you get a free set of soup spoons if you order today!(just pay additional shipping, over charge and super charge)

I have seen these products before. I think I gave Dave one at Detail Weekend, I use it for glass exclusivly. It is a good product but it is not designed for scratchable surfaces.

This stuff is probably good for just stuff like mirrors and guage clusters.

So it looks like I got $130 of unsqueezable Charmin. Mr Whipple doesn't have anything to be afraid of.
