Hi all,

I’ll be arriving in Scottsdale, Wednesday evening, (my plane lands at 5:30pm in Phoenix), and buffing out a car on Thursday at the Barrett-Jackson Auction for Classic Motor Sports magazine.

http://www.classicmotorsports.net

I’m open to a meeting up and having dinner with any area Autopia members both Wednesday and Thursday nights, as well as at the auction itself. After the buff out, I will have some free samples. (I’m not packing this stuff back with me!)

Here’s where I’m staying,

COURTYARD BY MC COURTYARD SCOTTSDALE OLD TOWN

3311 SCOTTSDALE ROAD

SCOTTSDALE AZ 85251

Phone = (480) 429-7785

So if your in the area, it would be fun to put a face to an avatar!

I’ll also be checking my e-mail after arrival. mphillips@meguiars.com

I don’t now what I’m buffing out yet, but whatever it is, my mission is to take it to it’s maximum potential, maybe some of you could lend a hand and be a part of this magazine article.

Have you ever thought about heading over to Salt Lake City, UT. I'm sure there are quite a few of us that would attend a detail session and a get together afterwards.

Yes, I would like to do this, but not on this trip, I have to be back here for a Mini Cooper NXT Generation Garage event on Saturday.

Car Crazy TV is supposed to be here again filming for the TV show.

But yes, I'm planning on visiting a number of places this year for how-to sessions.

It's just a matter of timing.

Mike

Here's the car that's lined up for the before and after. Because it doesn't look to bad in the picture, I'll probably search out something in worse condition and ony NXT this one.

Mike

p.s.

While I never monkey with photo's, because this photo was sent to me from Barrett-Jackson, I took liberty to adjust the gamma enough to show the car better.

Well I'm here, bunker recommended a place to eat so I'm headed there now...

If anyone wants to hook up for dinner Thursday night, send me an e-mail, or leave me a message on my room phone.

Barrett-Jackson update

I met Scott, aka bunker, at the event and he and I buffed out three cars at Barrett-Jackson right inside the bidding arena.

1951 Allard J2

2000 A.C. Cobra Phantom (The first Phantom cobra produced out of 1000, and a birthday present to Carol Shelby on his 80th birthday) Carol Shelby will be on stage presenting this car tonight.

A Ford F40 - Built for a Playboy bunny, (forget her name), she will be driving it across the blocks tonight.

All and all... just an average day of detailing!

Have to check out of the hotel and head back, I'll be posting pictures today/tonight for sure.

Mike

Below is a picture of Scott applying NXT with the PC at the event.

What a fantastic day it was!! The opportunity to work on three automobiles like this in the same day is once in a lifetime for me. Mike is a great guy. I had to keep dragging him away from buffing the Carol Shelby signature on the hood of the Cobra.;) All three cars came out looking fantastic. We used the new NXT Wax on all each one. You hear the phrase "liquid" when refering to the look of paint. I can NOW know what that means. The cars literally stood out far and above the others. And believe me, we were in among some pretty nice cars. After the car owners saw the results, we had inquiries on doing their cars.

I'll write more about the experience when I get my pictures.

Hi Scott,

Thanks so much for coming to the show and lending a hand. You were a tremendous help yesterday. I usually spend two days on any car I buff out, and with your help we buffed out three cars worth about a quarter million a piece!

Here's a link to a write-up I did on the 1951 Allard J2, with write-ups on the A.C. Cobra Phantom, and the Ford GT40 to follow in the next few minutes...

Mike

p.s.

Please excuse all of the crummy, dark photo's, lighting was poor and I just couldn't get my Sony to perform on this day.

Working on a new camera as we speak.

Mike,

Looks amazing! Even though all the swirls didn't come out, it looks a helluva lot better. The NXT really topped it off.

I might have over read it, but why didn't you use your rotary along with some professional products?

Makes me wish I still lived in Scottsdale. I really need to at least get back out there and visit. BTW, where did y'all eat...and did Meguiars pick up the tab? :lol

When you coming out to Dallas, Mike?

Bunker introduced me to Pischker's.

(Awesome food by the way!)

When I travel, as long as it's business related, I can turn in my meal receipts as either businees meal, or entertainment. So yes, Meguair's picked up the tab for dinner. (Thank you Meguiar's)

I'm not sure when I'm coming to Dallas, but it's on the short list.

I just finished up a Mini Cooper NXT Detail Day here at Meguair's, (before 4:00pm, which is a first), I'll be posting pictures to Meguiar's new online forum and when I'm done, I'll post the link to the new forum back here at Autopia, and to SCG.

I know most of you belong to enough forums that you don't need another one, but... as of today... its alive!

(Guess who the moderator is?)

Now after I post the link, don't everyone start going up there and asking me all kinds of hard questions because I'm heading home to sit in the hot tub with my wife and look up at the stars...

A man's got take a break from the polishing thing once in a while....

Mike
