Mini Cooper S - Pre Sale Clean Up

I am planning on detailing my friends 95 M3 for him. It has moderate to heavy swirls and I want to remove all of the swirls. Heres my list of action. Let me know what you think

1.dawn wash.

2.3m finesse it 2 finishing material with PC and yellow pad

3.3m swirl mark remover yellow pad

4.3m swirl mark remover white pad

5.dawn wash to remove any remaining residues

6. zaino process begins

Do you think this is overkill with two applications of 3m SMR with the yellow and white pad?

It may be necessary, but I usually use a paint cleansing lotion like P21S instead of the second application of 3M SMR.

Your approach looks good - just be prepared to "roll with the punches" as you're detailing it...

It is hard to tell what is going to take out the swirls and set a game plan before starting. The consensus is to use the least abrasive product that will work and get out the degree of swirling present. Go with the flow. It might take more or less coats of those different products. When you are done, let us know what it took to get that car looking almost perfect and post pics!

parenthesis, exponents, then multipcation and division, then addition and subtraction. :p

first thing you need to do is lecture him on how to take care of his paint.

second thing is to do what you're doing in lots of light

can't wait to see pics too :up

Today we detailed his car, however, he didn't have any of the 3M finness it 2. The person at carcareonline said you should only use it on brand new cars!!! What does he mean, I have always used it.

Anyways, We used the Yellow pad with 3m SMR first, on a speed of 4.5. To top it off, we then used the white pad with SMR with a speed of 4.5, then wax.

Overall, it turned out great, there were only some faint marks left over and deeper swirls that the finness it 2 would have fixed.

Another question, how does the Meguiars swirl remover 2.0 compare to 3M's products, in terms of abrasivity?

Today we have a Mini Cooper S that needs to be cleaned up before the owner puts it on the market. Overall it?s not in terrible shape, and it?s a great color since no matter what light source I used I could not capture the light swirls with the camera. This was a one-step correction, but unfortunately from a swirls point of view the before and afters would have looked almost identical since this paint hides imperfections so well. I can honestly say that 90% of the imperfections were removed during this detail.

Thanks for looking!!

You just added a lot more value to the sale price. The mini looks great.
What are your thoughts on the Black Light?

I love the mini. Awesome job on the correction. The black wheels compliment the car color very well. Any idea how much they are asking for it?
