microfiber vs waffle towels

I think the waffle weave towels are better for drying and the other MF towels come in different grades for different jobs such as cleaning and buffing paint.

Here is a good article from BetterCarCare.com that explains the different types.

i use my microfibers for pretty much everything except drying the car (excluding a washing mitt). so basically, i use the waffle weave for drying, and other microfibers to remove polish, wax etc etc.

Waffle weaves are available in different weave grades, depending on seller. There normally used for drying vehicles, however the tighter weave towels can be used for product removals as well. Micro fiber towels on the other hand (normally 16x16), are primarily used for product removal, beit polish, wax, sealants, QD's, etc......I personally use a "WW" in one hand to dry, and follow with the "MF" to remove any streaking the ww may have left......

Ditto that Patrick, I find the WW followed by an MF with QEW to be really good.

I also have the ultimate detailing towels which are WW but I cant really see any benifit in using them for product removal over and above a good quality MF ( JMO ). Also the size of the UDT ( 16x26 ) is a little awkward to use ( doesnt fold neatly into quarters like the 16x16 MF's ). A small gripe but apart from that they work fine.

And as a side note, I recieved a "glass cloth" MF from an australian distributor that is like a silk napkin that is incredibly good, producing a streak and lint free window.....first "glass" MF I have found that actually works.
