Microfiber vs Sheepskin Wash Mitts

I use a natural sea sponge. They are non abrasive, and they absorb debris up into their center.



I've used them for years. They cost more than sheepskin mits and mico mits, but they are far better.



Keep in mind that when the sponge is new - prior to its first use, rinse it well to get rid of any ocean debris that the sponge may have .

between the microfiber mitt or sheepskin, i would choose sheepskin. these days i use the GS instead...

Noting that I used Seasponges for years back when I was driving cars with black single stage lacquer...



You're not the only Seasponge fan here I sold my last two to a fellow Autopian who simply loves 'em.



I think different wash media call for different wash methodologies. That "absorb debris" is very different from my current "dislodge and flush". What works for one might not work so well for another.



So I wouldn't really say they're "better" than mitts, they're just different. Kinda like the grout sponges.



Hey, that might be an interesting comparo for sponge fans :think: If find the two types of sponges surprisingly different and I'd use different techniques with each.



The bottom line IMO is whether the paint gets marred, or perhaps I oughta say "to what degree it gets marred".

whatever wash media you use, as long as it doesn't do any harm, then that's all that matters. the GS has it's advantages and is the reason why *I* like it as i'm sure you like your BHB (or whatever you are using). everyone's open to options and should pick what they like...

I like Sheep to wash my car. They're a little heavy compared to the Microfibers, but every microfiber I've tried has marred my soft paint. Sheep have never harmed my paint. Gentle little guys they are.

Sheepskin is all that I really use now. I've been wanting to try some grout sponges.

Grout sponge for my ONR/DP 4in1 washes. Lambswool mitt with my Foam Gun, and for really nasty washes, I'll break out my MF chenille mitt on occasion. Since I Foam, soak, rinse, Foam, rinse, wash, rinse, the lambswool works pretty good for me and hardly ever gets dirty really.

Anyone ever try Finish Kare #1016 Poly-Car Wash and Wax Concentrate?

I am considering this product as my wash soap.

This or their #118 Exterior Shampoo Concentrate + PH Neutralizer.



Are wash and wax products good?

I am liking the idea of a wash that includes wax especially for winter washes when I need to wash off road salt every so often with out doing a full on waxing during the winter. I would do a pre-winter wax/detail with KSG or FK1-#1000 and then rinse and soap with #1016. Seems like it would boost or restore a primary wax layer like a FK1-#1000.

Thoughts?

Never tried either of the FK shampoos, don't intend to either (though I do use some other FK stuff with good results).



IME wash/wax combos never do either thing all that well. But hey, maybe the #1016 works great :nixweiss

Griot's Car Wash (cheapest source seems to be AutoGeek). Other than the price, it's one of the few products of any type that I find 100% perfect.



I might also mention that others here who are as particular about shampoo as I am often compare their favorites by saying things like "next best thing to Griot's but a lot cheaper".



I sometimes think about trying some of those competitive products (e.g., DuraGloss and the traditional-style Optimum Car Wash), but I guess the cost savings just isn't worth it to me.



FWIW, before Griot's I was a big fan of Meguiar's #62. Not quite the lubrication of Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo, but a lot more gentle on my wax.
