microfiber towels plush vs less plush

Do we all agree that for removing waxes, polishes, and cleaners that the more plush/nap a towel has the better? If so, I'm still kind of confused as to what purpose a less plush/nap towel would serve besides cleaning glass.

No, we don't all agree.

I prefer a plush towel for removing polishes, cleaners, and for Spray & Wipe, and for QD'ing a "dusty" vehicle.

For removing waxes, sealants, and for final QD'ing, I prefer a towel with less knapp.

Just my 2 cents.
 
Yeah......what Boss said works for me too, although I'm not really picky about the towel type. I"ll use the low or high pile mf interchangeably to remove wax/etc. I really like to have one of each in my hands and do a first wipe with the high fiber and a polish wipe with the low pile mf.

as you are approaching the final process of detailing the nap should be lower and lower to provide the smoothest surface possible. If you use plush towels during the final steps of a sealant or wax you can leave nap marks which can also look like swirls when the sun light reflects off the finish.
The idea of a wax or sealant is to get the most even layer as possible as our paint finishes are not as level as we think::D
 
Ok now I am confused. I always thought you wanted the most plush, soft, and nap towels you could get for anything on the paint.

So basically what I would want is something super smooth and soft for removing stuff put on the paint?
 
ok so to clarify i want to compare a brand of towels that range from regular mf to ultra fine. please, someone correct me if i am wrong and i will edit it.

ultra mf towel pakshak (blue and greens) - removing waxes, sealants, and for final QD'ing

ultra fine mf pakshak (yellow towel) - removing polishes, cleaners, and for Spray & Wipe, and for QD'ing a "dusty" vehicle.

I agree with Boss_429. The plusher towels will leave nap marks when removing wax/polish. Great explanation Boss_429

"Nap marks?" Never have seen such a thing unless someone is using too much product. What do they look like?

By the way, plushness hhas nothing to do withh performance, it is more related to a combination of things like loop or strand length, type of weave, fabric content. A thin long loop fabric will perform better than a thhick short loop one.
 
I prefer Poorboy's Velvet smooth as my final buffing MF. However, his Mega Plush works better IMO for Spray and Wipe.
 
My preferences vary widely depending upon the task. For quick detailing, I like very high pile as there would be more room for dirt to be carried away. For removing polishes, I like a very dense towel that will grab onto the product. For carnauba removal and final wipes, I like a very soft towel to smooth away any last remaining residue. For glass, the most important trait is for there to be no lint trail.

DFTowel, Your correct. Using too much product will cause nap marks. If I use too much product, the less plush towels are more forgiving.
 
I think what they mean is when you remove with a plusher MF towel the risk is there that the dense, longer fibers can leave what PB said would look like swirls (as the sealant or wax has not completly hardened) -

That being said I use Mullet Wax Awesome Polishing clothes to remove product AND for QDing and have not gotten any nap marks that I know of :)

Well obviously this means it has nothing to do with the towel and everything to do with the fact that someone is using too much product. Besides, what does plush mean to you guys? Thickness or longer loops? This new "sympton" nap marks sounds kinds silly to me to be honest.
