microfiber towels edges curl after drying?

Why is it that my smaller buffing type towels, after being put through the dryer on low (per care instructions on packaging), the edges tend to curl up and sort of stick to the microfiber. Like I have to pull the curled bits so they get unstuck. Im sure you guys are familier with what Im describing.

Anyway to avoid this? Its only the towels with the woven edges that do it.

Your right, it is only my thin towels. I dont think its a quality issue. I have some nice viking yellow polishing microfibers (though they dont have the velvet edges) the nap has a quality feel to it.

I dry mine on low heat.

I used use the airdry mode on the dryer but it was a waste of time. Takes too long and the nap always has a weird texture cause the fibers are stuck together because thats how they dried.

Have same issue here about small MF towels shriveling around the edges...

So, it seems that I have made all the noobie mistakes: wash my MF towels with laundry detergent and dry them in dryer normal heat with and without dryer sheets(Oopss).

LOL, so in future times, what is the best way to wash & dry a MF towels please?

Maybe that will make my MF towels feel less harsh and feel more like when you first open them from their package!

Great thread btw :xyxthumbs ;)

Anyone know where to get good MF towels? In different colors? My favorite color is red and I been trying to look for some red ones.:)

If they are stiched it could curl. Most cheaper mf's are stiched. The better mf's are hemmed with a silk border like Pakshak's Ultra Plush towels.

MICROPAK 16" x 16" Ultra-Plush Micro Fiber Towel

I wouldn't necessarily equate a silk border to what makes a MF better. I've used some that had borders that were pretty crappy in all honestly. Yeah, the border feels nice and soft, but what it's stitched around is what matters the most. I wouldn't necessarily rub any towel's edge/border across your paint anyways.

Kinda typical of thin towels. My thicker, higher quality MF don't do that. Even my Costco's don't.

really, my yellow ones curl slightly at the corners. not a problem with the thicker ones.

the thinner towels tend to do that due to the edging, buy some microfibers with the hemmed edge and you won't have that problem (i know there are different microfibers for different tasks, just giving you a hard time)... :D

Thanks for these links. The griot towels look beautiful and good for the price. I was looking in another link a "plush microfiber" towel you can use to dry. Are they good? I usually use like a rubber feel towel that absorbs the water.

I've never been 100% satisfied with how plush MFs dry up water, but some work OK for me when drying QDs.
