Microfiber towels at Big Lots?!?!?

Just a heads up... in case anyone might be interested.

Stopped by one of my local Big Lots to check out some of their "detailing" supplies and I stumbled upon a three-pack of 14x14" microfiber towels for $2.50. They're white with red stitching and marketed by GE Lexan... at least that's what I remember on the packaging. Looking at the tag (and each of the towels has one), it looks to be manufactured by Calderon Textiles. The content is a 80/20 blend. From my initial look and feel, they're a tad bit thicker than the blue ones from Walmart (Microtex) and the nap is tighter. The ends of the red stitching at the corners were heated so there's a bit of hard plastic to cut off before use, so buyer beware.

I passed on these as I have enough towels to last me for quite some time. There was also a ton of the aerosol NXT tire cleaner also for $2.50.

Happy hunting,

Mike

For reference, I'm located in San Jose, CA.

Ok, since you compare these to the Microtex at W-M, I have to say that when I was in W-M a few weeks ago (buying yellow Meg's applicators, :p ), I saw that they now have the crappy Microtex in a 25-pack for I think $10, which almost brings them down into the disposable range. They also had an 8-pack of some Hometex towels for about $5, which seemed a little nicer than the Microtex (not as nice, say, as the Vroom orange, which were on sale in the fall for I think $6 for an 8-pack).

I picked up some of those mf's @ Big Lots. They're actually a microtex towel. They have the little microtex tag on them. The do feel thicker than the microtex @ WM though. The ones in the 25pk @ wal-mart are really thin.

go to your local sams club and get the 25pk of the hometex mf's (i saw them last week and they come in blue & orange), they're actually pretty decent and lot better than the microtex....
