Microfiber sale at Target

I got some of the orange premium ones so i could tell them apart from my others. I am guessing they are all the same other than the color......is this correct?

I just bought some of these (happened to walk by the sale, didnt see this thread until now). I got the 8 "premium" for $5. Has anyone used these? I was just planning on using them for interior details. Will they mar paint?

i also bought the bigger yellow plusher towel, and it was great for drying.

out of all the vroom microfibers, i would have to say this is the nicest offering (they also have a smaller version of it as well)...

I gave mine the CD test and couldn't get them to mar the bottom of the CD, so that leads me to believe I am fine to use them on my paint.

Well I went to target today and picked up a few more premium microfibers. I also got some last week. 36 towels for 20 bucks is not too bad.

Now I dont know what "grey" towels everyone talks about from vroom, but the premium towels I picked up last week were blue in color. I have the orange towels and use them quite a bit and when I got these premium towels they were more plush although the same thickness as the oranges. Anyways, I matched the product number as in the first post in this thread and they matched so I figured it was just the color of Vrooms new towels, no biggie. But today I went and got some more and they were GREEN in color. Anyone know whats up with the differences in color? I checked the product number again and it still matches. So now I have 16 blue and 16 green premium microfibers from Vroom. Anyone else have this at their target?

i was at target a few days ago, and noticed the premium mf towels were blue as well and they felt softer/plusher than the orange ones. IIRC, they had the microtex label on them...

yup. Microtex label. Anyone seen the green ones yet? I havent had a chance to compare them to the blue premium ones. I also looked at the 12 pack which use to be the orange ones but now is the cheap grey and crappy white ones (6 of each). They are also smaller in size compared to the orange ones....

I curious if there was some huge mistake in packaging or what cuz this is pretty strange...

Just as a heads up, make sure that you inspect your towels carefully when you first get them. I was getting to throw some in the wash when I discovered about six pieces of plastic in the bundle. One piece was very sharp and jagged and the rest were the plastic tags that they use to bundle them together. This was a good reminder as to why I should always check towels carefully, prior to using them.

the microtex and vroom microfibers are made by carrand, and every so often they will put the microtex microfiber instead, as they have done that with the vroom yellow microfiber drying towel before as well...

Al, is the microtex mf better or worse than the vroom mf?

it depends which one it is. the light blue microtex microfiber towels that came in the vroom 8 premium pack, felt and looked softer than any other vroom towel i've looked at, other than the large microfiber drying towel...

agreed, the light blue premiums are much softer and more plush than the oranges or greens. I compared the green microfibers and it looks like they are equivalent to the oranges as far as feel, nap, and thickness. I dont know why the greens are packaged in the 8 pack as premium. They should be in the 12 pack just like the oranges.

Im still not sure why there has been the change in towels. It doesn't appear to be a simple color change but a different set of microfibers completely.

The oranges are now green in color and are marked as premium, although they aren't premium. The grey and white cheapo ones are now in the 12 pack instead of oranges. And finally, if you can find the light blues with the microtex label, those are the most plush and softest of the vroom towels.

I went looking for the Vroom sale at the local target and they didn't have the bundles on special. Have to say that the cheap ones (white/gray) at less than $1 per towel are a pretty good value for wheels and such. They must be good enough! :) Bought a bundle of the orange ones (16'x16") to try 8 for $8.......they look pretty good for interiors & around the house.

The towels that ON SALE here say "drying towel". They aren't waffle weave, but are very soft, fairly substantial by Target standards. (Must be the Microtex MF mentioned in a post above). ~ 20"x24" I believe & light yellow. Sale priced at $3. They feel like they would be good for pretty much anything, actually. All the naps/cut looks about the same as the others. Just thickness/fiber length more substantial.

All are 80% polyester/20% polyamid.

Has anybody had recent "issues" with the orange or gray/white Vroom's (not too worried about durability, just marring, lint, etc.)?

At those prices, assuming at least "no-mar" characteristics, will have to buy my cheaper towels there and use the savings for high quality buffing/QD towels like Cobra 530's, when I need more. BTW, the Cobra 530's (light gray) are amazingly soft and not too thick. I find that the extremely thick towels (e.g. Cobra Shamrocks) are a bit difficult to handle.

I'll also have to check out a couple of other local Targets and see if I can find the blue & green versions mentioned in the thread.

Thx for the info & tips.

Drop a note about the Vroom's performance if any new info.

See ya. :wavey:

I've used the light yellow drying towels for the last year and have had no problems with them.

I've had very good luck with the plush grey towels for removing polish, and use the orange towels for dirtier work like wheels / engine / doorjambs.

yes, the cobra 530's are nice towels (the best all around towel to me are 360-380gm) and it's to a point where you don't want them too much thicker (eurow shag, shamrocks, etc) as they aren't very good in removing product, but work better for QD'ing and wiping down scratch sensitive areas (odometer, nav, stereoface, etc,). a test i've been doing for quite some time to see if a towel lints, is to use it with a glass cleaner on the bathroom mirror and after you wipe it a few times, look closely and you'll see if it leaves any lint behind...

So is everyone saying the orange towels are not as good as other colors in the premiums? They seemed to be fine to me when I tested them on a CD and used them on my car......

oranges are good, but the light blue ones are more plush so they IMO are better.

The green ones despite being packaged as "premium," are the same as the oranges - just green in color. Again these are good towels. I used to use the oranges for everything per scottwax's recommendation. I would feel fine using them on paint still, but I picked up a few packs of the plusher light blues so I use those for paint and the orange & greens for interior/door jambs/tires.

The orange MF are made by calderon textiles which to my knowldge are great. From what Im guessing target is switching over microtex or something, The target I went to had half orange and half yellows granted the yellow may be softer the orange seem like they will last longer. Im going to buy up all the orange ones I can find.

I have a ton of the orange ones and they lint like you wouldn't believe! Just noticed it in the past few weeks so mine are doing tire, wheels, interior, etc. duty. I even tried to QD my fiance's car with them and it was terrible. I guess it will Cobras from now on for me.
