microfiber polishing towel

would you use a microfiber polishing towel to remove wax from your car? i'm looking at one at west coast corvettes but there are so many products that it gets confusing. obviously a microfiber drying towel is different but is a polishing towel for removing wax?

Yeah, this stuff *can* be confusing. Unnecessarily so, IMO, but that's the way it is. Different vendors use all sorts of names for these things  I often use the same type of MF for polishing that I use for removing LSPs. I've seen some places selling different towels for polishing and waxing, but I dunno if there's a significant, functional difference. I've never noticed such a difference with the MFs I use.

In the absence of reliable info, I'd assume that if it feels *very* soft and is supposed to be gentle enough to remove final polish, then it oughta be OK to use for LSP removal.

There are suede-style MFs that are made *just* for removing LSPs (and for use on glass), but I dunno if it works the other way around (MFs just for polishes only). I can't see that, myself.

yea definately too much to pick from. i'm just wondering, if and when i actualy wax the car myself if a polishing mf was the right one to use. AHHHHHH!

Well to wax your car I highly recommend using a foam applicator. Using a MF soaks up too much product and is very hard to spread IMO. I only use MF's to remove products and for interior use. Pick up some Megs yellow foam applicators from Walmart and order some good MFs towels online to remove the wax.

ok CutNAction, so what your saying is that use a good foam applicator to put on the wax and its ok to use a polishing MF towel ($4.99 at West coast corvettes) to remove the wax. Right?

That's correct.

WCC's website says that they sell the Adam's polishing towel (for $4.99). I haven't tried Adam's products but I seem to recall that other Autopians have given them favorable reviews. You might try a search to find specifics.

Get a bunch of them. One isn't enough to do a whole car. (The more products used in one session, polish, glaze, wax, etc, the more you'll need.)

PC.

Yup correct. Just get a bunch of Megs foam applicators (2 for 2 bucks I believe, or Big Lots has some imitations 4 for a buck).

Then I highly recommend visiting Excel Detail and buy a bunch of his yellow Supreme towels. You can get 2 of them for the same price as you can get 1 of the WCC. I can vouch and many others can, but the plushness of his yellow supremes. Ive heard tons upon tons of awesome reviews from Pakshak.com also, but have yet had the chance to try them out.

The Adam's and Excel Detail - Supreme are the same towel, but the Adam's is bigger and the Excel Detail is cheaper even if you by two. Both excellent MFs.

John, do you mean that literally that they are the same towel? Is this a fact?

I never thought about it, but they do look similar, but ive never tried the Adams before.

I have both, exactly the same towel accept for size. Also the size of the towel at WCC is incorrect if it's suppose to be an Adam's MF which it sounds and looks like.
