Microfiber Pads/Polish

I have not tried MF pads yet but I notice them used with various polishes, not just polish designed for that pad. I was hoping those who have used them would post a few thoughts on which pads and polish you have success with.

I haven't tried the Megs pads but I have used the Optimum pads (polishing) with Poli-seal, 205, 151 and megs #82 all with very good results. Poli-seal really works amazing with the MF discs IMO!

I have used the OPT polishing pads with Blackfire compound and polish and had good results. I did finish with foam.

I've used the Megs MF Cutting Pads and Opti MF Polishing Pads. M105 and Opti Compound II with both. If needed, I finish polish with foam.

MF Pads on my DAs have relegated my rotaries to jewelling duty although I did have a good time with Opti MF pads on my Metabo.

I'm interested in hearing some more detail Doc. Did it finish down well? Did it correct well and would it be good as a one step? I haven't tested the durability or correcting ability of Poli-Seal yet.

I may have to give the poly seal a try with the MF pads. With foam I was less than impressed or maybe I was expecting too much.

With Poli-seal, it will finish down well. On softer paints and say 205 or 151, foam will finish just a bit better IME. Seems that the MF polishing pads add correction ability to most products, especially when using a rotary but certainly noticable with a DA. Honestly if using them with a one step product, you will improve the finish every time. I have found that reducing the pressure on the last pass or two really help produce the best finish. There is no substitute for a quality finishing polish and foam for the ultimate in gloss but these pads are very durable and finish really nice for MOST jobs. It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

PS's durability is just ok IMO but if you use OCW after, you can see 3+ months out of that combo.

I'm liking what I read so far. Thanks for the tips guys. I'm gonna have to give some MF pads a run.

Im waiting for Optimum to release their newly engineered Optimum Cutting and Finishing Microfiber Pads. According to Michael the Optimum Rep, its going to happen soon. He posts on DetailingBliss a lot as well as the Optimum site where he is the moderator.

Im going to try them on my Rotary just to see if they are really worth it or not.
Durability and ease of cleaning are the biggies for me. I have to get a new Power Panel since my 200amp is full, if I want to get my 220v compressor in the garage to use to clean the microfiber pads the most effective way, so its not as easy as I would like it to be..
