Microfiber Detergents?

Because I don't detail professionally, I tend to clean mine with whatever liquid detergent I have. Yes, they don't always come out "spot-free", but I've also never seen them mar the surface the next time I use them.

And honestly, I've had such good success with the Costco MF's that it does not pain me to throw them out (or relegate them to the REALLY dirty jobs) when they get a little wear and tear on them.

At one point, I was a buyer of some of the higher-end MF's on the Internet, and while I do still have all of them, I get just as good a result from them as I do from the Costco MF's.

I think when the difference between two things we are comparing are close in difference our sub-conscience will pick the winner that we want to win...But, regardless, IME with Micro-Restore vs. cheap powder detergent from Costco and vinegar there isn't much of a difference provided you wash the towels correctly.

Wow, you're making a whole lotta incorrect assumptions about me.

I'm sure you didn't intend for that to sound *nearly* as insulting as it did  I'm not the sort of person that would apply to. (Ever read "Predictably Irrational" by Ariely? I'm simply not wired that way.)

Besides, the differences are glaringly obvious. I *do* still sometimes wash certain MFs in regular detergent. It doesn't work as well for me in either of my washing machines. I use what *does* work for me, simple as that. Sheesh, figuring out what works/doesn't with regard to laundry isn't some big intellectual challenge ;)

If the differences aren't there for *you* then, well, cool...lucky you; you get to save money on the detergent you use.

I use Tide with a couple oz. of Purple Power and a little Dawn dish washing det. Then I do a quick wash with couple oz of Vinegar to remove all excess detergents. Then let them air dry, a important step.

This is my basic procedure as well and they come out like new. I air dry the towels once completely rinsed.

The question that begs to be answered is; what do the "Microfiber Soaps" do that this process doesn't?

Is it safe to say that what you use to clean your MF's can be used to clean LC foam pads? Or is there a product that's safe and effective for both?

I understand that if they are overly soiled then it would be best to probably trash them, but under regular circumstances I'd like to get multiple uses out of my MF's and foam pads before I trash them.

There are cleaners made for both microfiber and foam pads.

[Hope this isn't outta line, being posted on this thread...]

Danase- You don't seem to stock your MF detergent in the gallon sizes any more. Sheesh, I haven't spent any $ with you since forever :o

I just use normal detergent to clean them, every once in a while when I get buildup I put a little vinegar in there to clean them better.

i use liquid detergent and as long as you don't use too much (very concentrated, so much is not needed), you'll be fine...

Same ol' same ol'...some people do fine with regular detergents, others do better with MF detergents, and some people find differences between the various versions of the latter and others don't :nixweiss

I usually wash the household MFs in regular detergent, so it's easy to compare the diffs, but what works best for *me* might not do that for others.
