micro-marring solution

this morning, i noticed that p085rd works great to remove very light micromarring BY HAND. As many would agree, I felt that if it works good by hand...it must be better w/ a PC.

@ 1 speed 1, a mist of water and a little p085rd (or FPII...tried them both) on a microfiber bonnet...I removed ALL of the micromarring I had on my new black f150.
Did a 50/50 ISO wipe and still perfect.

hope this helps some owners of black cars, As i was struggling for a while with micromarring even w/ fpII on a finishing pad.

Yep, I was surprised it does a pretty decent job by hand as well. It helped me out with some impossible-for-a-machine-to-reach marring in my door jam.
 
What is p085? I am new to this detailing obsession and for me I mean obsession! I bought a new Taurus SEL a few months ago, a black one. I noticed after a few weeks the major marring all over the car. Never buy a black car on a cloudy day is the lesson learned. My next purchase, after becoming addicted to this website was a pc and pads and lots of Meguire's products. I have been able to make great improvements except for what I believe you are calling micromarring. In direct sunlight it almost looks like tiny flecks in the paint and observing the area around a beam of light looks like the marring I removed only on a very small scale. Makes the car look like there is a light residue of something on it. Is this micromarring? If so what is the product listed above and what exact procedure did you use? I would really appreciate the help, I want this thing looking like glass. It looks really good to everyone else, some think I'm crazy, but it just doesn't bling like I think it could. This is an addictive hobby. I would have loved to find a really good pro detailer but have been unable to in Twin Cities MN. area.
 
Hi stewco. Good to see another MN dcer. The polish they are talking about is part of menzernas ceramiclear line. It is about 45 bucks for 32 ounces if i recall. Most poeple think that FPII is about the same. FPII is also a menzerna product.

It certainly sounds like what you are referring to is micro-marring. I don't think that you necassarily need po85rd to fix it, it just worked great on my truck.

As Greg Cavi said, FPII (Menzerna finishing polish II) is much cheaper and has very similar results.

As far as the process, I insepcted the area with 1000 watt halogens, and misted my microfiber bonnet lightly with water. I used light to medium pressure on the head of the pc, and worked on a 2x2 area. After moving slow across the panel, @ a pc speed of 1.5, the micromarring is totally gone.

I think the key is the microfiber bonnet, and a very fine polish. If you were to have any questions, I'd be happy to help.
 
Thanks guys! Is the Menerza polish available in retail auto parts stores or online? Cloudy here today but I went ahead and tried something different on one panel. Used finishing pad with the Megs # 80, what the heck couldn't hurt. Just used weight of the pc with a very little pressure. I'm definitly going to try your solution when I can get the product and a mf bonnet. The pad kit I ordered with the pc didn't include. Thanks again! I'll post results.
