Hey i did buy a pack of Micro Fibers from wal mart for under $10 for like 5 i am sure they arnt the highest quality but where do i buy midrange micro fibers. I mean i see some for 10 buck a piece are these really worth it.

Yes they are, but they aren't mid range, they are probably the top microfibers you can find. I would say my dream would be to have the DF Concours Microfibers. Why don't you buy some JT International Microfibers? They are pretty cheap and by far the most durable you can find. I would say low-mid range mf there. Gimme a shout if you want more info

The bottom line is, you get what you pay for. There are all kinds of towels to buy, some expensive and some cheap. Do you really want to risk micro-marring your car over a dollar or two? These towels seem to hold up really well, so it's not like you have to buy them on a regular basis.

Here's a link to some towels that are on sale (30% off) at Autopia. Evidentally, they are the same as the expensive $13 ones, just without the name. You get one full size drying towel and one smaller polishing towel for $13 and change. I ordered two packs just a few hours ago. Autopia Purple towel sale

I forgot to mention, that I personally prefer waffle weave towels over regular ones. They work a lot better when polishing with them and ring out easier when you are drying.

Interesting. I have some, but I have only used them for drying. Another process to try. :D

Yep, the texture of the waffle weave itself adds a little "bite" to make removing polish residue or actual polishing easier, plus its a lighter towel in general so it takes less effort to do its job.

my fav out of the soft touch the grey wwmf form pac and the big blue is the grey one. i use it with the s&w and can do the whole car with out streaks.

I bought some too from Walmart, Target sell the same kind. Are they ok for use?

i dont know about walmart or target kind.
I tried mullet wax awesome polishing cloth microfibers - yes the higher dollar mf's are worth the money and LAST.
you can see the difference, when you feel them / look at em against the chiepies- i still have some autozone chepies but they're for interior car dusting/ house dusting duty now.

I seldom use regular mf towels anymore. I have gradually gone over to using ww for almost everything. I just like them better. I think they work better on windows, drying, doing a S&W thing, dusting, everything. My mf towels have just been sitting on the closet shelf for almost a year now with very little use.

I've purchased MF on eBay & Wal-Mart and they're very ...... OK. Most are made in Korea but the eBay MF were made in China. They've been washed many times & they're holding up well.

Yes, they're soft & lint free but I prefer to use these MF towels for windows.

I bought some Mega-Plush MF towels from scott (specialtymotoring.com) and they're incredibly soft and durability has been excellent so far (washed less than 5x).

I use WW for drying & MF for taking off products, I'll never go back to cotton & chamois for drying.

Ain't technology wonderful!!

Thanks guy i really appriciate the quick response....... I know i ask too many dumb questions but thanks for answering them..hahaha

willbjew,

There are some great MF towels for under $5 a piece. There is no reason to pay more than that if you don't want to.

Some fine ones have been listed in this thread.

I use and love exceldetail MF's, Patrick is a real great guy to do business with and his prices are very reasonable for what you get. Particularly his gold edgless ones, they are awesome.

I have also got a swag of the smaller WW from Autopia ( not the traditional 16"x16", I'd guess maybe 16"x20"? ) that I use quite frequently for all manner of jobs ( particularly when doing multiple cars in a weekend ).

Lastly, I have a "silk" MF from an Australian distributor that is for glass only and works a treat. Lint and streak free, and most times I only use water, but sometimes EO 20/20 if it needs it.

Man, you guys are just chock-full of good info. I never knew there was so much difference in MF towels until I found this site :) I'm trying to gather enough info to put together a basic kit myself. Threads like this are a big help.

Poorboys has got a basic MF kit, I've got this and they are top quality. I also have PAC's green MF, Pakshak's as well as Autogeek blue MFs, they are top notch as well :bigups

I like pak shak towels as they are very high qualtity and don't scratch. I also have some MF from Sonus. Those are just as good too. I bought some of those inexpensive MF at Target as well but dare not use them on my finish. I clean my dash with them and my leather seats.
