Michigan Autopians - Shop Tour 4/20

The funny thing is that I'm from Wayland (about 20 mins south of Grand Rapids), and I used to travel to GR everyday and I would have loved to go to this, because it sounds like a lot of fun. But I recently moved to Alabama, and I won't be in MI in April.

But thank you to the person who sent me a PM inviting me. I hope you guys have a great time.

This might be the first road trip for the year for my Cutlass  I need to do some serious work to the paint first though, haven't had time to give it proper attention in a couple years...

Probably not a bad plan; looks like both shops are within a mile of each other and not too far off from the "main drag." My vote would be to see if we can get in to Quaker Steak & Lube over on 28th. Depending on the size of group they should be able to accommodate us, and the food is good.

Not familiar with that place Charlie, 28th st. is a long road. I guess it depends on which highway folks are traveling, 96 or 94; 94 to 131 N puts folks on the south side of GR which looks like where these shops are located. Certainly not far if coming into town on 96, just more traffic.

I finally joined this forum.....count me in for going. Any idea on the time that this will all take place? I have yet to decide if I'm driving up Friday night, or early Saturday morning. Thanks

Nate

Oh....and maybe we can all brain storm ideas on me finding a job up there. I want to come back home! Miss my state!!

I've been there a few times, it's pretty much like an automotive-themed Buffalo Wild Wings or Hooters type place... decent food/atmosphere/etc.

Looks like GLC and CC are within a mile of each other, one on 40th Street and the other right up the road on Eastern Ave. Quaker Steak is 6 miles away on 28th, but not far enough to make it a big deal; it is between Costco and Centerpointe Mall.

One thing to note, I was talking to my uncle the other day (they live in GR) and he said there is construction on 28th near the exit coming off 96, both directions are down to one lane. It wouldn't affect the route we'd have to take, but may make a difference in terms of which exit off the highway is better to use.

Here's a Google Map showing the area stuff is in:

Sorry for the delaying getting back to you guys. I just followed up with Terry @ GLC and he's pretty sure that April 20th will work. My next thing to do is set things up for the 2nd shop to tour.

I say we meet around 12ish (gonna take me 2 1/2 hours from Detroit) somewhere close in Grand Rapids. We can grab some lunch after the tour.

Anyone like Mongolian BBQ?? There's one right there...

Is that a slow running Mongolian that ended up on the end of a BBQ rotisserie ? 12 Noon sounds doable.

Noon for the tour(s) works; not sure if I'll stick around for lunch or not.
