MF's, is there a "right" side?

I have noticed on some of my MF's that there seems to be one side that is a little plusher than the other. Is the plush side the "right" side, or does it matter?

Also what is the best way to wash/dry MF's? I just washed mine (old and new) in Woolite on warm, rinsed with vinegar and put in the dryer and tumble dried on low heat.

No No No! That's the WRONG SIDE!!!!

:p

Nah, there is no wrong side.

But if you don't know your MF, check it on a CD. Always take tags off. And I personally fear the stitching on the sides, but it's a necessary evil.

The "best way" to wash them is under heavy debate. I wash seperately in hot with extra rinse, using liquid Xtra brand detergent. No fabric softener. I dry them in the dryer.

I am not the king of detailing though. I'm sure a Griot's OCD person will give you a much more detailed answer.

You could always buy MF's that have "2 right sides".....

Thats always miffed me, why do towels have one plush, and one not plush.....? I have yet to understand this phenomena...:nixweiss

As for washing, IME, i have never had a problem with hot water, liquid Tide, and low setting in the dryer...(Dont overdry)

For what its worth I prefer using the "tough" side for to buff out wax and polish, and the "plush" side for dusting the interior, etc.

But that's not to say I don't use both side interchangeably.

And I use them completely differently :D  I use the plush side for all my polish/wax/sealant removal and the non-plush side for glass.

I'm pretty sure you'd need access to Area 51 to solve that Mystery. . . :scared

Doesn't make any difference IMO. Both sides work just as well for whatever you wish to use them for - providing you're using a good quality MF (PakShak ;) ).

MF's have 2 different sides?

It all just comes down to personal preference. Whatever works for you. I base my decision on which side I happen to have ready for the task at hand. Very scientific doing it that way. I don't have a problem either way.

Well, your either getting two for the price of one, or your paying 1/2 as much for 2 products.....(Did any of that make sense?)

Many months ago the care and washing of MF was discussed because many people were experiencing a loss of absorbency with their towels. None of the “standard care and washing methods restored the absorbency.

While experimenting I found that washing them using Cascade dish washer detergent did a fair job of restoring absorbency, but then I noticed that Cascade contains chlorine bleach and I’ve always been told to not use bleach on microfiber. I contacted several MF vendors asking about the use of bleach, and got similar responses from all of them, “I dunno, it’s what my Asian suppliers tell me. Based on this exacting information I decided to do some more experimenting; put small pieces of MF in varying strength bleach up to and including pure Clorox and found that the MF came out very clean, very absorbent, very pale (or white), and did not appear to be damaged!

Since then my normal routine is to wash my MF towels after every use in the washing machine using warm water and cascade dish washer detergent. I dry them in the dryer on low/delicate. After quite a few use and wash cycles they still begin to lose absorbency so I add some Clorox to the wash. So far I haven’t noticed any loss of durability.

TortoiseAWD . . . . . I want one of your mobius MF towels!
