MFs & dryer sheets

I guess i didn't see the dryer sheet :wall before i placed a load of MFs in the dryer last night,according to my wife it was used a few X, Will i have problems with my towels due to the one dryer sheet. What if she lied and it was a fresh sheet :lol:

Fabric softener sheets will put a coat over you MF's that will limit thier effectiveness. I would run it through the washing machine a few times with either some distilled vinegar or some MF soap. This should help them return to normal.

My mom was "being nice" a couple of weeks ago when she decided to wash some of my MF towels in the laundry with some brand new cotton towels and then put them in the dryer with a dryer sheet. I thought they felt a little different, but I may have just been imagining things. I know I wasn't imagining all the little spots of cotton on them though. Mine are still in my closet because of the specks of cotton on them, but I wouldn't worry about the dryer sheet, just wash them a couple of times.

For those of you advocating fabric softeners or dryer sheets...

These products DO NOT soften fabrics, that is actually impossible. What they do is add silicone to the fibers which make them "feel" softer to you but since your car has no nerve endings why bother?

Adding silicone to the fibers reduces absorbency in natural fibers and restricts adsorbency in man made fibers. Silicone also reduces a fabric's ability to remove excess wax and polish and it's ability to buff. In addition the silicone can be transferred to the vehicle's surface, especially on hot surfaces.

Simply don't ever use softeners of any form.

Thanks. I have a feeling this was not the 1st time dryer sheets may have been left in the dryer as i was drying my car with a MF the other day the towel was pushing the water as to absorbing. I'll follow your advice and rewash.luckely their my older towels.

boiled them for about 15 minutes. when i was done i saw that at the top of the boiliung water it had a whitish film over it. gave em a wash after and put in a cup of distilled vinegar. towels feel and look like new. this process even took out some of the dirt stains some of the towels had. from now on i will probably use half a cup of vinegar when i wash my batch of towels
