MF's and woolight ?

Woolite is for delicate fabrics and gentle washing. Why would you use it on towels full of wax, polish, and other cleaning agents? Use a good liquid household detergent such as Tide or Era in hot water and you'll be far better off.

I use charlie's shop. I even add some undiluted Charlie's APC and they clean decently well. Some MF stains just are too much(if you wipe wheels etc..). Possibly some overnight soaking can help as well but they just get demoted to wiping door jams, engine compartment etc... Personally I used the warehouse MF (costco) for places that I know it would be dirty. (wheels, door jams, engine area etc..)

Totally agree.

When you were a kid and got dirt or grass on your jean's kneecaps or stains on your shirts, your mom didn't reach for Woolite to wash your clothes. MF towels are tough and need the hot wash and proper surfactant to cut through the detailing chemicals lodged in the towels.

Woolite is for cold water, gentle washing of women's lingerie, silk and wool sweaters. It is mostly used by hand in the sink by women.

I don't know why people need to be so frilly when it comes to cleaning MF towels. You "abuse" them on the car but then feel the need to use the likes of Woolite to clean them.

The only thing I see affecting MF towels are bleach, fabric softner and high heat in the dryer.

So I shouldn't wash my MFs in bleach with lots of fabric softner, then put them in the dryer with high heat?

:runs to laundry room:

Just kidding. Thanks for the heads up- I have a pile of dirty MFs set aside since I was not 100% sure of how to wash them.

I have several stashes of MFs, each dedicated to a specific job. When I am done using them I throw them in individual boxes marked like this: wash/dry; QD (this also includes things like Poorboys SW); leather and interior; glass; polish and glaze, etc. When I get about half a dozen in a box I throw them in the washing machine by themselves with no other towels or clothes. Each box of towels is washed separately so as to not cross-taminate (although I am wondering if this really is a big deal seeing how hot the water gets). I use Fab or some other liquid detergent with no bleach. If I use the dryer at all I fluff or air dry only with no fabric softner sheets. If it is warm, I simply hang them outdoors. If any get too dirty to be used again for the same purpose, I deligated them downwards each time to other jobs until they eventually get to the bottom of the pecking order - such as wheels. I seldom, ever throw a MF away. So far, so good!

I have been using Woolite plus normal detergents for years with a Vinegar rinse cycle. Still have PakShak, DF towels, Excel Detail, WCD and MicroFiberTech MF and WW towels that are 95% as soft and clean as when new. I wash with warm and rinse with 80* water on the delicate cycle. Rub in a little straight detergent (Woolite) into soiled areas. No problem at all with detailing residual. Then again I do not use carnuaba or syn-wax products. Zaino may be easier to clean out of MF's. :nixweiss

Works for me and my 120+ MF/WW. A controlled study I did a couple of years ago results in equivalent results using this method and the dedicated MF formulations.

Always Air Fluff in dryer to almost dry. Soft as the day they were purchased

My method probably would not hold up for detailing jobbers because the vehicles you guys see everyday are probably quite dirty and a stronger (harsher detregents) and more cost effective method is required.
