MF towels

Hey guys,

I am about to place an order for 9 16"x16" Ultras, 3 16"x16" Ultra-Fines, and 1 WW from PakShak. Do you think that is enough towels?

Also, do I need to rinse or wash them before I use them for the first time? Thanks!

Edwin

Washing should help release any chemicals used to create the materials in the first place, just like when you buy new clothes, I always wash them before wearing. Ranney has some great stuff, you wont be dissapointed!

I'd get an extra WW or two while you're ordering.

I only got 1 WW because I also have a Sonus UDT on its way. Should I still get one more? He is giving me a great discount. So I guess I need to pay attention to all the towel washing threads now. Thanks guys!

Ill throw out a recommendation for pakshak and autofiber towels for paint. I have yet to try excel detail, dftowel and others, but I am sure they are great quality also.

As far as general purpose mfs go, sams club mfs cannot be beat for the price. 8.79 for 12 yellow mfs:) !!!!!!!!!

im looking at the sonus ultimate detailing towel. and then i look at the blue pearl and the concours and i notice that the UDT is WW and the blue pearl and concours have hooks. shouldnt i be using a towel with hoods to remove polish? or is the Ultimate detailing towel still good or better to use then the hook towels to put on, or remove wax/polish?

edit: the sonus der wunder has two sides. maybe thats best for putting on/removing wax/polish?

I like hooked for removing polish residue and the inital pass to remove wax residue. But you cant beat the CBT for final wax buffing and QDing :)

hmm... i think ill def order one of those concour buffing towels for a final wipe down and buff of my car after all the polish is on, thats what u use it for, right? and def gonna order the ultimate drying towel. but what about mf towels to take off my polish? which ones should i use for that. i was looking at the khaki, but they seem kinda cheap. so maybe i should opt for the blue pearl? the sonus ultimate detaling arent hooked and are kinda expensive aswell. please help me end my ongoing struggle to make a simple order lol.

what do you think about the MF towels sold in www.detailgear.com . i was thinking to buy 25 Premium Light Blue Microfiber Towels for 1.36 each (the price is good). But i havent seen any reviews about them. hope you can help me out.

Thanks for linking that source, that's one that I didn't know about. They seem to have the standard range, except for that Supreme Extra-Thick Green . As has been suggested previously, there seems to be just a limited number of MF manufacturers, and the resellers have some mix of what's available, customized to some degree (different colors, different edging, tags/no tags). The resellers also have different pricing structures for different quantities, etc. Some have a high starting price but get more reasonable in quantity, while some start low with no quantity discount.

Some of us have privately been comparing notes as to which towels from different resellers seem to be identical, but I don't think it's appropriate to share that here. It's also not fair to suggest that everyone is selling the same towels; just because there are only a few actual manufacturers doesn't mean that they can't make countless grades and variations for different resellers.

This is similar topic to the clays; some of us would like to be able to identify real differences between the MF products, in addition to the supply chain differences of price, service, and shipping costs.
