I just got an el-cheapo buffer from wal-mart (just until I save up enough $$ for a PC) What applicators do you recommend I use with it?? I can't use the pads designed for a PC (From the way it looks it has to be a bonnet) Any suggestions?
If you saved your receipt I would return it. Seriously, all those are good for is applying a wax. They don't have enough speed or power to remove defects, and as you've discovered, you're limited to using bonnets with them. It depends on the size of the pad as to what bonnets are available for it. Usually all you'll find locally for that size of buffer are cheap terry bonnets. If by chance the pad is 6" - 7" you might be able to use some MF bonnets that some of the vendors sell:
I used it today on the hood to see how it worked out and it got out the very few swirls and light scratches that I had (my finish is in pretty good shape for being 2 years old and being black)
