Metabo group buy?

Shipping for me in Texas is $16.57 making it $241.52 total, seems a bit high for UPS ground.

It went almost $20 up, hmmm.

In that case try this https://secure3.nexternal.com/share...347343087&ProductID=57025&Target=products.asp

$224.95 plus shipping, and they drop ship from Metabo so it shouldn't be expensive.

On the subject of group buy, did anybody think of contacting Metabo directly and talking to them about "car club discount group buy"? After all Autopia is huge club of car crazy people that use such tools (oh boy I can see other car crazy folks getting upset at me for using this term on detailing forum) and wide adoption of such tool is in their best interest.

Yes, it does seem high. I am under impression I was quoted less than that for shipping to California when I called them while trying to decide where to buy. My memory might be playing games on me though :nixweiss

In that case group buy straight from Metabo might be best path.

Well I contacted about everyone I could think of and didn't really come up with any thing earth shattering price wise!

Everyone seems to ensure me that the price on there web site is as cheap as it gets.

However Top of The Line contacted me today (March 9 2007) and told me they had it on "Special" for $214.95 + shipping That seems to be about the best price I can find, sorry I couldn't get us a super deal.

Kpagel you are exactly right, I guess I was so used to getting prices like $235.00, 240.00. 250.00 my mind just saw a 2 instead of a 3. My mistake, I'm very sorry.

The Metabo we have on our website is already marked down from a regular

price of $360.00 to 314.95. I'm afraid we cannot go any lower than that &

shipping costs are not included in that price. We would have to figure the

shipping based on the zip code & total weight of the order.

Thank You,

Janet

I'm wondering if the model being sold by Ace Tool that ZoranC posted a link to at ~$230 comes with the same warranty and everything that the one TOL sells? Could it be that Ace is selling a grey market item and Top of the Line is selling one with full warranty? The other option is Ace buys and sells in much greater volume that Top of the Line and therefore is able to pass savings on to the customer. I'm just trying to figure out the enormous price difference between the two places.

Kpagel , welcome to the club of "What makes manufactures tick", individual questions were something I didn't even get to! If they can't supply a great price there is no reason for me to continue a communication with them!

In business it is very usual to offer great prices for an item that everyone wants in hope (works well) that if you like dealing with me you will continue to, off setting my low price on the one item, which I still make a profit on, plus buying other things.

However we are in different times now, and manufactures think the correct route is to drill you for everything they can get and tomorrow be dammed. History repeats itself weather you want it to are not. Stock price controls the whole show (Currently) just ask any CEO of a company , if they told the truth, this is in there minds is the direct path to financial greatness in as short a time as possible. Now this is not meant to be a "Hammer", but eventually they will "Discover" that if people can't depend on them for good prices/service things will take there natural heading which is down.

I guess I have ranted enough to put everyone to sleep, so, let the buyer beware, I was going to say it in Latin, but my Latin sucks!!

When I spoke with Ace Tool they said they drop ship directly from Metabo so it would not be gray market item. Place I purchased from drop shipped directly from Metabo too.

So for those who have inquired about a Metabo purchase, what is the best local or internet delivered price that you have been quoted?

I finally got tired of going back and forth between buying a Metabo and just ordered one from Ace Tool for $237.10 including shipping. I weighed the pros and cons and decided the Metabo was the best choice for what I want to do. I'm really don't mind the placement of the switch and speed control on the PC so I should adapt to the Metabo fairly well.

For all you guys thinking about buying one this is good news since I'm sure there will soon be a big Metabo sale somewhere since I just bought one ;) .
