Mercedes C-300 New Car Correction

I thought about you guys when I saw that article. I was like "MAN!! I wish I had had this article a couple weeks ago when we were discussing radar detectors!" :) It is good stuff.

Mercedes C-300 that belongs to Kevin Patten who was the shop foreman @ Performance Art which just closed(sigh) so with nothing to do he replaced his daughters hurting Ford Focus with this car. Being of "Strippo trim level and kevin a accomplished tech with the eye for all things tightness as it related to automotive field he purchased the car and between him and I we set about to make the car look and drive nicer.

Some of the subtle mods done to the car are as follows...

.18' AMG wheels w/Pirelli tires (upgrade from 17')
.Painted the cast stock calipers from dull silver to black
.AMG door lock covers
.Sport decklid spoiler
.Painted the grill tines from silver to gloss black

The car had some "issues" right out of the gate, with overspray on the rear bumper along with severe hard water etch and marring on the finish.

Kevin painting the calipers.

Low readings.....so care had to be taken.

Paint on this car was very nice, rock hard but nice as you can see crisp reflections after polishing.

The clarity from the finish is very nice, as this pic of the hood with a recent Autoweek mag shows. you can see the shine in the photo on the cover.

Bob,

Just beautiful, perfect clarity from a whole bunch of challenges !!

What a lucky person to be able to drive this to school !! :)

Thanks for taking the time to share the great pics and write up.

Bob,
impressive work! Wanted to let you know that even though I'm just an enthusiast and not a professional detailer, I really admire your work!
:notworthy:

I have a question for you or someone else. Is it normal practice in the Detailing industry to perform correction in a manner where you are masking an area in half...such as the hood. Or do you do that for the benefit of us to see the differences as steps are performed?
:-?

Tremedous job as always Bob @-)

Question????? How does one loose there job, then go out and buy a new Benz. I would like to learn how to do this also please :Santa Smiley:

The owner(KP) is a smart cookie, as he has paid his house down and has rental property as well, plus traded in another car to get the loan down to a minimum amount(like the Geico commercial says"That's how you do it son").
