Mercedes 300D Never Garaged Paint Restoration

I have a new bottle of Eimann Frabrik Hi-Intensity and am having a hell of a time trying to get the lid off. The cap is like those "child-proof" aspirin bottles, and the instructions say "while pushing down turn", but it's just not working. I've tried pushing down as hard as possible and turning (in both directions). I've tried pulling while turning. Nothing gives. I remember someone here had the same problem before but I can't find the post. Anyone have any tips that don't involve hacking open the bottle? This is incredibly irritating...

Sit the bottle down on something flat like a table. Hold the bottle with one hand to keep it from sliding, and put the palm of your other hand on top of the cap. Lean your bodyweight down onto the cap through you palm and the direction you are supposed to.

I know what you mean about those caps, I used some EF Power Wash the other day and it was a major PITA getting the cap off. :)

It was pretty easy for me, just sat the bottle down on the floor, grabbed the top with my hand, pushed down, and turned.

Just when you open it, insert the spray nozzle and spray onto the wheel do not inhale the mist. it is really basic and caused me to cough a few times, something tells me this is not good for someone health.

I opened all of my ef products like this, Ef hi, Clear Pearl, Clear Vision, and the dreaded EF BO, which I think I got down the application technique of it.

I just went through the same thing last night while pouring my EFHI into a sprayer bottle. Yep, they can be tough!

cindy,

i had to put mine on the table, a strong table, and while standing, pushed down as hard as i could. i felt like it was going to collapse...

but with a slight turn of the bottle with all of that pressure, it opened.(perhaps have someone else turn it while you put the pressure on it)

it was a pain for mine also, but when it finally was opened, man did my car sparkle!

If Jason opened it, it must not be kit proof ;) :D

Actually give to kid and they will open it.

Put it on something lower like a kitchen chair for more leverage (no wheels, something with fabric or something that won't slip yet won't get ripped or scratched). Hold down on it like you're doing CPR with both hands and bear down on it arms straight pushing down with you whole body while twisting. (or on try this on the floor)

I had the same problem with my EFHI a few months ago tried all the techniques listed above and none of them worked. I finally just knifed it open and completely sliced off the upper portion of the bottle (after nearly slicing off my finger too!) and poured it all into a few spray bottles. What a PIMFINGA! I had completely forgotten about that too. Thanks for conjuring up some good memories Cindy! :)

I know what you mean, thoes bottle can be a PIA. Try prying a flat-head screw driver under the cap and pry it off. It will probably break and/or bend the plastic piece underneath, making the bottle easier to open the next time.

I totally thought that something was wrong with the bottle when I first got it, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only person that had problems opening it :D

My technique: On a carpeted floor, kneel down, and put the bottle in between your knees. Put the bottle cap on the heel of one hand, and push down with both hands on the cap. Turn in short bursts until the cap comes loose.

I've gotten a bunch of Eimann Fabrik items, but only 2 caps have really given me trouble.

Hope this helps,

Pablo

Give it to a kid and the kid will open it!!

I guess safety preceeds package looks.

Do I hear suggestions for new packaging??????

Thanks for all your suggestions, guys. Glad to see I wasn't the only one with this problem (I was getting worried for a second that my 115lb weak body was preventing me from accomplishing the simplest tasks). I'm happy to say I did finally get the darn thing open after sitting the bottle on the carpet, covering the top with a towel, and really leaning into it. Sheesh...I really wish EF would redesign their bottles - or just the tops, really.

Well, for a 20-something year old girl it's not that out of the ordinary, is it? Although the fact that a 20-something year-old girl frequents Autopia might be a little out of the ordinary...:)

Well letsee... for hard to open bottles I like to get a rubber-band and wrap it around the cap a few times for some traction. Then push down, and twist as hard as you can.

Or just ask a little kid to do it.... :D

I guess it isn't out of the ordinary, but it was getting very late and I was feeling a big lonely. haha. Don't mind me ;)

last June. I hit an all time high of 142 pounds during the first week of September, 27 pounds gained in 2 1/4 months. I loved it, no school, just sat around all day except for the 8 hours of exercise a week lifting weights. The 4500 calorie diet also helped.

Now with school and a 4000 calorie diet, I now weigh in at around 130-135. Actually lost weight!!! Gosh, I should make people follow my diet and school day so they can lose some weight.

Anyhow, I just finished a parade and my whole body aches, dinner time!!!

I haven't been 142 since Freshman yr. in High Schoo!!! I have since grown about an inch and put on about 50lbs!!!! I'm not a heavy guy though, just big(er) than I used to be!!!:D

Wow....... This was crazy......The owner showed up at my shop and wanted the paint restored and the interior restored and cleaned.

The car has never been washed or garaged since he has owned it (around 5 years). It actually has mold growing on the inside and outside.

This was a huge undertaking. It took 27 hours.
