Merc SL55 AMG

Gen2

New member
Finally got myself out of the Chinese New Year mood and decided to start my first posting in the GOLDEN PIG year with this gorgeous car, Merc SL55 AMG. Over the phone, the owner told me there were some swirls on the car over the phone and it was nothing very serious. The day when it came for the detailing session, I was pretty ‘shock’ to see the condition of the car. There were surface scratches almost everywhere and the buffer swirls were so bad that it can be seen even without the need of sunlight or spot light.

The process started as follow,

1. wash and clay

2. Power Gloss/RMG mix + orange pad + cyclo

3. IP/RMG mix + green pad + DA @ speed 5

After the above process, this is how the before and after looked like,

Thank you for reading through the posting and would like to wish everyone here a very happy and prosperous Chinese New Year.

Thanks for your compliment. Nope, I don't live in China. I am from Singapore and the majority of the population here are Chinese, so celebrating Chinese New Year is a big event for us :) .

Holy crap. That black looks amazing. It actually made me gasp when I saw the full car shots. I might have to pick up some Vanilla Moose and Carnuba Moose Wax for my black car after seeing that.

'I take it you live in China?' Location Singapore .... That's 'y' in AMERICA we have a show called: Are you smarter than a 5th grader !!!!!!!

oh.... my..... gawd.....

gen2,

I've always been astonished by your mazda details and every click and brag you post always have stunning and amazing after pics...

but this..IS DEFINATELY my Favourite!!!

I'm really blown away....

excellent job, first class.

questions :

1) How do you get rid of the swirls near the SL55 badge?

2) After this step; "2. Power Gloss/RMG mix + orange pad + cyclo" what does the finish look like?

thanks in advance gen2.

Hey guys, thanks for all the kind compliments :) .

CleanGSR - You will not regret the VM and CMW combo on a black car, very wet and deep looking. Finishing it off with JW CJ does add a bit more shine and depth to the paint work.

fishbonezken - Actually if you look closer at the SL55 badge, there are still some swirls there. I used a foam applicator with IP/RMG mix and work around the badge by hand, so I believe the light swirls are gone but the more serious ones are still there.

After the 'Power Gloss/RMG mix + orange pad + cyclo' step, you can see some light marring on the paint work but it is easily taken care of with the 'IP/RMG mix + green pad + DA @ speed 5' step.

Gen2,

So, no use of a rotary buffer was involved? Do you use Propel pads and what size? How do you go about cleaning the insides of wheels? What brand of clay do you use? How long did it take you to complete this detail and roughly how much do you charge for that type of service? Was the interior done as well?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but it is plainly obvious to me that you really know what you are doing, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

I agree with fishbonezken, best detail you've posted. Unbelievable gloss.

that wetness is very impressive, and from the pics as good as my much more expensive swissol concorso

ive just ordered both CK products and will be eager to do a comparo. I think ill use the 996 since that's currently sporting Z5-Pro as LSP
