I'm doing my new VW and I've never worked with this paint (though so far it seems to come out pretty nice with just the SIP. However, to really get that jeweled look, is SF on a blue pad be ok? It's a 4500 grit which isn't much to the SIP's 1500 grit. Maybe there is something inbetween I should use before coating?

I also have menz IP which is 2500 I believe, but it wasn't enough to take out the marring and waterspots that this TERRIBLE town water leaves.

You'll still have marring if you do that original plan. It isn't as much the sip as the yellow pad that will leave heavier marring.

Yellow with sip will need about 3 steps to remove the micro marring.

I remember when SIP and doing 3 steps was all the rage back in the day. I haven't used/done either is quite a while. I bet if you used an orange pad with SIP it might work on taking out some decent marring. Then follow with 4500 with a finishing pad and call it the day.

Amen Dave! I was a Menzerna fan, especially SIP and 085 (I think) hell, it's been a while! But, there are better choices out now.

I hate to hijack the OP thread... but what are some better/ newer choices ?

i don't detail as many vehicles as i used to so I'm trying to burn through my Menzerna supply.

thanks in advance
