Has anybody tried the new Menzerna Fast Gloss FG500?

it's described as:

Menzerna Fast Gloss FG500 is a new compound from Menzerna for quick removal of 1500 grit sanding marks. FG500 is the most agressive compound in the Menzerna range for use with wool and foam cutting pads.

Unlike old heavy cutting compounds, Menzerna FG500 is non-gritty with a good working time. The smooth formula produces less dust and more cut.

FG500 is suited for all paint types including Ceramiclear by random orbital or rotary polisher.

CUT: 10/10

GLOSS: 5/10

I know of at least a couple guys here in the US who have it, but it's not VOC-compliant. Supposedly they are working on a version for US release.

Excellent product. Doesn't have quite the cut of 105, but dusts considerably less and has excellent work time. The gloss rating of 5/10 is under rated as it will leave a finish more than good enough to go straight to LSP if you want to use it for one steps. I have been using it for about 8 months and love it.

Just got some from ebay. Fast gloss fg-500. It does dust alot less than power gloss.

How did you find the cut compared to M105?

Good point. My link above is to Menzerna in Europe. If you look at the top chart in my original post it shows PO85RD as UF5000. That's the chart that we seem to be given in Australia.

It seems Europe only goes to SF4000 (PO106FA). It claims the same gloss level (10) so PO85RD may be viewed as redundant.

Heh... I hadn't even noticed that 85RD was referred to as UF5000 in that top chart.

And here I thought the whole idea behind Menzerna changing their labels and product codes was to make things easier to understand :der:

Alfisti:

I don't use M-105 so i can not give you a comparison. Closest that i can come to M-105 would be using Menzerna power gloss. Fast gloss has a way longer working time than power gloss. Power gloss dust really bad when compared to fast gloss.

I have been using FG500 since I got the first lab sample and I love it; cuts great, nice working time, nice gloss and easy to use.

Regarding the cut on FG500 vs PG is that FG have a slightly better cut then PG, but its so much easier to use then PG that, IMO, PG is redundant.

And yes, it´s not VOC compliant in the US. Maybee it will come a VOC compliant version of the FG500 in the near future? You never know...

I am not sure what to kind of reference for cut that you are looking for. Menzera's chart says that Power Gloss can get 1500 grit and higher sanding marks out. I have used Fast Gloss to get out 1200 Grit sanding marks on a test panel. So I am not sure if power gloss could do that too. I got rid of my bottle of power gloss before I received my fast gloss.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds promising. I've ordered mine and should be here soon. Have you compared it to M105?

Yeah, it's interesting that one of Menzerna's charts say FG500 is good for 1500 grit and another says 1200 grit.
