menzerna arrggg

I have been using the menzerna twins for a few ocassions already and on black cars too. I would get hologram affect in some areas this was when i was using a rotary then i was told it was the rotary to i switch to a pc and still have minor holagram affect. I think menzerna is just to fussy. I would use 50/50 alcohol mix before the final and zaino quick detailer after the final inspection. Can anyone reccommend a easier product for me to use? How's the poorboy 2.5?

Hmm...I don't think you can cause holograms with a PC. You must just be polishing up the finish which is causing you to see more of the original holograms you created with your rotary.

1Z contains wax. Not sure if this will interfer with the Zaino.

I like following Menzerna IP and FP with Klasse AIO on black in preparation for Zaino. On lighter colors I use DACP or IP and AIO.

The holograms must be repaired with the Rotary probably using a less aggressive pad and polish/cleanser ( VM, P21S).

What pad are you using? And what speed?

Some "polish" pads have that effect with some polishes.

Depending on the type of foam used plays a big part in getting those hologram effects Also motion of the rotary. It may be due to left-over product still in the pad. A flatter pad also works well in even heat distribution. Some concave pads even with moderate pressure do not lay flat and you get uneven application of both polish and heat. Gets good and hot on the outside edge, but center working outward does not get to full temp.

I've never would get those effects with Menzerna, just try to polish "wet" as opposed to letting it dry. Check the amount you're using. It should be a small amount each time until pad is fully saturated.

Menzerna was designed for rotary use in OEM/Tier1 applications, so using a PC you don't get the same results w/o running it fast and using moderate pressure. Same for rotary, speed and pressure with Menzerna is the key. Start with moderate pressure and gradually lift off pressure.

I got a Lake pad that started to give me some holograms, so I switched to another new one and it stopped. I think mine were caused by the foam being a bit more ruff than a new one. I'm still testing pads, but begining to like these S M Arnold "Cool-It" pads that have cuts in the foam to reduce heat and polish build-up.

Menzerna uses aluminum oxide as a polish agent. Too much over one area at a given time can cause the holograms. See if using a smaller amount and running it at 1200 while wet solves your problem.

Was this with just FP?

Let me know as I'll check with Menzerna if they have a work-around for holograms and if a better matched pad may be the answer.

For now, you could use a Meguiars polish then switch to Menzerna Finish Glaze or other glaze. If using Zaino, a good strong wash of Z7 will remove most polish oils so the Z5/Z2 will bond well with the finish. Or the good 'ol alcohol/distilled water mist/wipe-off also works well prior to Zaino application.

Depending on the level of swirls, the Poorboys SSR's are great and easy to use polishes! If it's that bad, then SSR 2.5 and step down to SSR1 and or Pro Polish. Both can be used in sun, but work much better while finish is not hot so polishes do not flash. If you want to try some SSR 2.5, PM me and I'll send you some.

Menzerna takes a little getting used to. I don't really use the FP anymore, instead i use FP2, it's a lot easier to work with. Give em a another shot, they are excellent products. What pad combos were you using?

If you do go with the 1z, wiping with the IPA mix will eliminate any potential bonding issues

I'm using a white classic motorsport pad. The car is not the same car a rotary was used on. In fact in never seen a maching b4. Also I'm using fp2. I'm just going to order some 2.5 when in stock thanks for all the help!

hss, sorry to hear you're still having problems. I agree with Deanski here, use Meguiar's #9 like I showed you and finish it with Menzerna Finish Glaze if you're set on using Menzerna. Good luck and keep us updated on your progress.

Did you fix all of the problems on your father's SUV?

Yeah my dads suvs is fix but..still not so satisfied yet..I'm gonna get the 2.5 and some vanilla moose so hopefully that would help..

I hope you are now doing a bit better with the polishes I sent you. Nothing like Xmas in August! :p

SSR2.5 Acts like Megs DACP. Cut pad until powdering.

SSR1 Polish pad and let that break down as well

Pro Polish Use sparingly, and keep a wet edge while polishing then wipe off

Menzerna FP: As it dries and you still have not gotten a high gloss, re-wet with a spray bottle of distilled water lightly and continue. Use a fine polish pad.

Menzerna Micro Polish/FPII: Same as above, but can be worked a bit longer as it has more lube in it.

Menzerna Glaze: Use a finish pad, go slow and again use a wet edge and wipe/buff off.

You probably need to order more pads. If you're using a PC, stay with pads that are flat. If you use a rotary, any of the Lake Variable Contact pads work well and keep sling in check.

Pads are the cause of many problems. You want to get the best pad match for polish or you will be wasting time and polish.

If you have many swirls, you need a cut pad. Once swirls are gone/removed, now you need to bring up the gloss with a polish pad and finish with a fine finish pad.

Here's a good reference:

Let us know how you do!

Great job!! :up :up :up :bow

One day, post what you did to achieve your results, as in what steps/polish you used, pads etc.

More pics too would be great!

And you're welcome! Glad I could help!!!

Enjoy all the polishes!:D

I use the following (remembering this car had hologram affects too from previous ip and fp with rotary)

washed with meguiar deep crystal

pc at 4 with classic motorsport white pad with ssr 2.5

wiped with df towel

pc at 4 with classic motorsport white pad with ssr 1

hand applied with poorboys sponge ex

Maybe I would have gotten better result with polish before ex?

Also i used zaino quick detail on each panel i did. I applied the products using dr done menzerna instrutions..
