Menzerna and Zaino detail iminent

Hi everyone, looking to you all for some experienced guidance, so please feel free to add your opinion.

My menzerna products arrived today from the states, I have the IP and FPII products, and it is my intention to pay close attention to MOSCA's post on applying and using this product to clean and polish my car firstly.

Then I intend to apply Z2, I do not have the pro version of Zaino, but I do have the ZFX, not sure whether to apply this by hand or with the PC, and if with the PC which pads to use ... see below. I may well apply 3 coats if time allows, and I may also apply p21s as a top ... depending on opinion.

Also in my pack from the states were three pads that I ordered, they are the sculpted pads with the hole in the centre, 'C.P.' pads I believe. These pads are new to me, so I would appreciate input here, I have the RED WHITE and BLACK pads, which would you use (if any) for the products I am going to use, and at what speed setting on the PC?

The main interest for me (and maybe for some of you) is a direct comparison between these products and the AG twins + P21s. The comparison will be direct in that , I have the same car, I am doing the detail, the lighting will be similar, the location will be the same, the preperation (washing/claying the car ) will be the same etc. everything will be the same except the products used. Will be interesting to me to see if there will be a notable difference.

Anyway, I hope you can help, and are interested, one thing though, as ever coming from the UK I cannot gaurantee the weather will be good enough over the weekend, I do not have a garage, so it has to be dry enough. The weather forecast is for

-1oC over the weekend, cold but hopefully dry.

Thanks again, and of course I will post pics in another thread once the detail is done.

Use Zaino by hand.

I have used p21s as Zaino topper in the past many many times, but recently changed because I like to detail my car often, and if you put p21s you would have to strip if you wanted to put another coat of Z in a couple of weeks. It's personal choice, if you are not detailing again for 3 months go ahead. It also might effect durabilty a bit, but you will still get a least 3 mos either way.

I have never used AG, but I imagine the same thing applies as far as putting a topper. Many people top their sealants but the #1 mistake is topping before sealant is cured. Just wait 24 hours if you are going to top. Also, AG doesn't have an instant cure so wait 24 hours between coats. You might be able to apply the AG cleaner then the AG sealant in one day like klasse but I'm not sure, that you should ask someone about if it doesn't say on the container.

I use menzerna all the time and the #1 tip is to spray the applicator with water before applying polish. I prefer IP with white pad and FPII with black, you can use IP with orange but there is only so much that IP will take out no matter what pad you use.

Just a side comment on topping:

I've pointed this on MOL re: topping NXT with #26 or #16, but the theory applies to every product I guess.

When you top Sealant A with Wax B, the final appearance would always yield (if not totally) the latter, and NOT the combined appearance of Sealant Wax AB (though may alter the variable on durability). This conclusion is based on my own experiment and experience.

The original reason why some detailers layer carnauba over sealant is for them to take advantage of the durability of the sealant and and appearance of the carnauba.

So what I'm trying to point out is that if you're using such an expensive sealant (Zaino) for durability and thinking of topping it with P21S to compare with another, it's just in effect comparing P21S "looks" and the durability Z2 with the other (because you've just covered the layer of Z2). I believe the 99% almost perfect optical clarity of Z2 will be diminished with the application of P21S. So I guess it's a waist of time and money. Why not just compare P21S only with the other? Or just plain Z2 with the AG and both without P21S topper.

I believe there could hardly be any noticeable difference if they have the "same" topper even if you have different products under. (at least for the human eye to see it)

Don't get me wrong. These are just my experience on topping. It's still your preference that matters.

At any rate I'm still interested to see the after pics of the two.

EDIT:

Let me clarify that the conclusion I've just posted above applies only to the Sealant and Carnauba topper and not with respect to the "prep" underneath. Thus you may see noticeable difference with AIO vs. #80 Speed Glaze both topped with NXT.

Thanks for your input, so how would I strip P21s, any particular proven methods ?

I agree with your posting tripper_11 and will probably avoid including a topper, thanks.

Either use p21s paint cleansing lotion or AIO will strip nicely, and dare I say Dawn wash, especially if you've Zainod' under wax. Whether or not Dawn would be bad for surface of the car wouldn't matter if you have Zaino under your p21s, because the Dawn wouldn't reach the paint if you only washed once to cut the wax. In fact if you use P21s or AIO you will in effect strip everything down to paint but if you used Dawn you probably will have some Z left on the surface.

I have used both Autoglym and Zaino but I have not compared them, therefore I would be very interested in your findings.

Not sure where you are in the NW but here in Cumbria it is going to be a bloody cold weekend.

About 40 miles south of you LoweJackson :)

It was a bit too cold I thought today to do mine, so instead I did my missus' car. I am totally impressed with Menzerna, it just blew me away. I have applied the Z to her car will wipe it off tomorrow as its a little too cold for it to go off just yet. I took some before and after of her car, will post those tomorrow, and I intend to do my car tomorrow also, so will post pics of that too. I have been outside since 11.00am today, its bloody cold but not too bad, going to eat now - so pretty much a six hour detail on the wifes car! (I did her carpets and seats too).
