I am looking into getting menzerena polishes but there is so much which should I get? What are their uses? Thank you and another different question is which da should I get the new meguiars g110v2 or pc 7424xp? thank you

First of all what kind of car, color and condition of paint. There are 4 basic DA's.. Meg'sG110v2, PCxp, Griot and Flex DA. All are good, but the Griot has the most power and the best warantee.

Sorry, your right. Shouldn't have included Flex as it is not a true DA but a force rotation.

its down to those two and i need help choosing but more important what menzerena polishes should i get the cars getting polished are silver, white, black, red dark gray makes ford, lexus, mercedes benz, honda, bmw and they have never gotten polished so all are in pretty bad condition. Thank you

If it were me buying something I'd get the flex da in a heart beat, due to the extra power and the fact I just like it better....however if the other machines will get the job done...

You can checkout Menzerna Polishing Compounds

the above mentioned page has a link that shows the different compounds/polishes and there aggressiveness and gloss ratings. Its worth a look.

I use the following Menzerna products:

1. Power Gloss (Heavy Compound)

2. Super Intensive Polish (Medium Compound)

3. 106FA/FF (Fine Polish / Light Polish)

4. PO85RD (Micro Polish / very light polish)

5. Power Finish (Light / Medium)

I dont use power gloss that much, so I can't speak to its effectivness but if its as good as SIP is (or as good as sip has been to me) then its a good product.

SIP is a staple in my arsenal, Its my primary goto polish, sure you should start least aggressive and work your way up, but I always find my self needing SIP on most details.

106FA/FF is a FANTASTIC product and a great product to use after SIP.

Power Finish I dont find it to finish out "perfect" or near LSP ready, but thats just me. IMHO it has to much cut to finish out perfect on soft clear coats but for the most part this is a good product to buy.

PO85RD is a micro finishing polish that doesn't have much cut at all and finishes very nicely. On very soft clear coats (a particular jet black bmw comes to mind now) this product when used after 106FA/FF can really burnish (glossen up) the surface.

In my work that I do, I dont find Power Finish to finish out perfect all the time and would highly recommend following up with 106FA or something of the sort.

If I were buying menzerna for the first time I'd get:

1. SIP (imho this is a must have)

2. Power Finish (Good Product, it has its place)

3. 106FA/FF (I'd get this and SIP over Power Finish, any day)

4. PO85rd (I dont reach for it much, but its very nice to have around)

In all honesty, I've seen honda paint be hard as a rock, even that night hawk black pearl paint. I've seen Ford Paint be hard as a dang rock and soft as a feather. Honda paint is generally thought of as soft, but again no 2 cars are exactly the same, maybe similar but not the same.

The above 4 products should allow you to work on "pretty much" anything.

105 just doesn't work for me...it flashes no matter what I do, and its a bear to get off...perhaps I am over working it, but...

105 is VERY aggressive, MUCH more so than Power Gloss. 205 I have never used, however I was talking with another local detailer (MartinD) who has used it and he said its very similar to 106FA/FF in that it finishes very nicely...you can also vary the cut alot depending on the pad used.

I haven't used Megs. products alot, I tend to use menzerna because it was the first thing I found that "just worked". In fact it worked the first time I tried to use it and I haven't looked back since.

I may give Meguiars another shot with M95 and get some M205, just not right now though....

edit:

To directly answer your question, I missed half of it and beat around the bush on the other half.... :)

M105 (very aggressive)

Power Gloss (aggressive)

SIP (medium)

Power Finish (medium light)

106FA/FF and M205 (with M205 having from what I understand a little more cut than 106FA/FF) (sort of light maybe mediumish cut / very light)

po85rd (very very light)

M205 I think has more cut than 106FA, its noticable, but not by much....

I actually find powergloss has more cut than m105. If anything I think the biggest difference is that one is diminishing and the other not.

And I LOVE menz 203. It's the most often used polish on my shelf. Has decent mustard for the average swirls and finishes amazingly.

I would get PO203S aka Power finish sice this will cut great and finish out just flawless if used correctly.

But I have almost all polishes from Menzerna.

That was a good post, thank you. I would try 105 again and make sure you're using the new formula. I am a total rookie only three years polishing and I picked up 105 very quickly and absolutely love it!! I do need an in the middle polish though and will look to pick up some SIP come spring time.

Can you one step SIP if used with an orange pad??

I'm assuming you're talking LC orange. I would have to say no. You'd need a finer combo to finish it off.
