Menz question

I've seen Ford clearcoat called ceramic, and soft, while looking for info here. I have a 2007 Ford Mustang in Torch Red. I polished with IP (PO91E), and Micro Polish, and was kinda disappointed. The combo worked well on the other family cars, but my car still has some spiderwebs. Do I need to use SIP and 106? If I need to change, any other suggestions besides Menz?

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from, but Ford paint IME is pretty soft and should polish out pretty easily.

Double check your technique, are you working in with slow movements on speed 5-6 or what??

I have only done 3 Fords (2003 Mustang Cobra, 2004or5 Focus and a new expedition and paint was rock hard on all 3... something along the lines of the usual metallic BMW paints...

OP, try 3-4 passes with IP because if it is in fact the hard paint that I've come across, you'll need that much more to remove it

scott2314 You should provide us more info on your process. Pad choice is important as well as work time/technique. Rotary or PC?

Some Ford paint may fall into the relm of "hard", but isn't anything close to Ceramic. Any finish can be considered hard if you don't choose the proper product/process(and tools) to work with. Case in point, my 03 Cobra wasn't too "hard" to correct.

I agree with David, more info on your process and technique is needed. Could be you're just not working the polishes in at a fast enough speed.

I've worked on a few Ford, 05 Mustang GT, 07 Must GT, 04 F150, 03 F150 to name a few and all had soft clears and I was using a rotary with white pad and Menz IP and cleaned them up completely in nearly 1-2 passes.

Have you guys ever worked on a Vette, Audi, VW or new MB?? that's hard clear, Ford clears are very soft compared to them.....

Josh, maybe I unfortunately worked on a repaint or a freak of nature, but trust me, I have worked on many Audis and MB and these Fords were close... I never did a Vette yet and from all the threads I read I don't want to haha
