Melted LC velcro backing plate!

Anomaly

New member
I searched and didn't quite see this type of problem.

Admittedly, I am a newb with using a PC7424.

I was using the PC7424, LC Orange pad, LC 6" backing pad (with the PC board spacer), and Menzerna IP. I had only just started on my detail session and the damn pad with velcro backing plate flew off the PC leaving only the attachment bolt in the PC... :wall

I was attempting to follow the instructional videos from AutoGeek on using the PC by smearing the product on the section of paint, using the PC at speed 3 and no pressure other than the weight of the machine and working the product, then bumping the speed to 5 and working the product again with only the weight of the machine. Then...***!

Did I do something incorrectly?

Was the OPM set too high?

Was the backing plate defective?

Is there any place (ie, Home Depot) where I can get another backing plate to continue my detailing?

I'd say you had a defective BP, contact the vendor where you bought it and they should replace it. I (and many others) use a PC at speed 6 all the time w/o any problems.

I don't know where you could get one locally, but if you're going to order another I'd get it from Exceldetail or Danase for quick shipping and great customer service. Hmmmm, just remembered that Danase won't be shipping from Nov. 2 until the 11th or 12th, so make sure he can ship it before he leaves if you order it from there.
