Meguire's Deep Crystal Car Soap

I've used the NXT car soap and like it but I noticed Megs also sells Deep Crystal car soap (Pinkish Color). It seems to be priced at about $2-3 less than NXT per gallon. I'm thinking it may be a good alternative if it is as good of quality. Has anyone used it and have opinions on it's quality? Does it measure up to NXT car soap?

The DC wash is fine as far as cleaning goes, the NXT is a little better in lubricity, but they are nowhere near the lubricity of the Gold Class wash, which can be had at Target for $10/gallon. I don't like the GC smell very much, tho.

The Deep Crystal soap is fine, yes. The biggest advantage the NXT soap has over DC is that it contains a bit of their "ESP" polymer technology to add just a touch of extra protection to the paint as you wash. Either Meguiar's product is fine to wash with, though (as is their Gold Class soap).

It really depends on if you're using NXT as your LSP or not, whether the extra spending for NXT soap is worth it to you.

Being in Canada, the only Meguiar's soap available is Deep Crystal. A local store used to sell Gold Class, but it was so overpriced that they cleared their first inventory slowly and never got more.

I myself didn't buy GC, because of the price (it was almost twice the Deep Crystal).

I think it's the best cheap soap I can get. I only compared it to TW's Zip wash, Sundance car wash, Simoniz car wash and another I can't even remember. I'm staying with DC until I find something else interesting and decently priced. DC cleans good enough for me right now.

I remember using the pink Deep Crystal wash back a few years ago. For the price, it works really well and has a nice smell that reminds me of summer. I haven't seen any available here, but I may pick some up next time I'm at Pepboys.

My DC is rather clear, just in a pinkish bottle.

Meg's Soft Gel is pink, though.

Did I get a bad bottle? Is DC shampoo supposed to be pink?

No, DC is clear in the pink bottle. It's been so long since I've used the Soft Gel I don't remember how it compares to the others...how does it?

It's thick (gel :D ). Fairly good lubrication/glide.

Smells like cheap hair shampoo IMO.

Good initial foaming, but didn't seem to "re-energize" when swished with the mitt.

Needs a thorough rinse to get the beading back.

Dries on car quicker than some, so you'd need to be rinsing as you go, I think.

Mitt fills with foam (lots of lather to rinse out).

I'd say it's a med. strength shampoo.

*This is from my experience with it a while ago. It's not my "go to" shampoo.*

Megs DC shampoo is quite decent. Quite comparable to EO wash which has a good rep. You could do much worse than DC shampoo. It's not the best but bang for buck I'd still recommend it.

Try mixing it with Poorboys SSS. I wash my cars with that mix almost exclusively nowadays. I always found SSS to be lacking of suds until I added some GC. Best of both worlds almost.

I've been using up my bottle of DC. I don't like it at all but my winter washes are not so concerned about getting the best out of my stuff. Rather, I'm more concerned about getting done as fast as possible to reduce exposure to the elements. I don't get much lather out of DC and what I get is weak. Good thing is that it rinses quickly. Bad thing is that it doesn't sheet like GC or NXT.

My love the NXT wash.

What do people here recommend for the "best bang for the buck"

car shampoo?

When I got my foamer gun, I first used Deep Crystal in it. Then I got a bottle of Gold Class. Definately, the Gold Class is better but I'm thinking in a foamer the difference doesn't justify the cost difference. Using the soaps in a bucket, I'd prefer the Gold Class but the foamer makes a big difference.
