Meguires # 83 ?

I'm trying to prep my paint as best I can before I apply my first coat of Zaino so I picked up some Meguires #83 Duel Action Cleaner/Polish today. My bodyshop referred me to where he buys his professional series which is all good....but with the amount that I had to buy I think I'll have enough for the next 3 years ! :o I was just wondering if by using the #83 first will it affect the Zaino application? My prepping procedure is going to be as follows;

Dawn wash

Clay ( Autopia's Block&Glide kit )

Dawn wash

#83 until happy

#34 to remove any streaks

Z5

Z2

Any input would be appreciated.:)

DACP works very well in removing swirls and other finish defects and is best used with a rotary, but a PC will also work very well with it.

It does need to break down, in that, when you apply it, start polishing, you will start to see it will turn into a powder. That's it breaking down. Wipe of and your're done. I would follow with a more finer polish, say Megs #9, Megs SFP or 3M PIII-MG or other finer polish as DACP can leave a slight haze at times. This would give you the best results. You could go straight to Zaino, but you really need to keep polishing it down with finer and finer polishes. You can end up with Megs Hand Polish too!

Once all the polishing is done and your finish is now like a mirror, wash again with Dawn or Z7 prior to Zaino application as you want to remove ALL oils left from polishing so Zaino can bond and crosslink. So, as you dry and get ready for Z6 spray B4 your first coat, shake the Zaino bottle first, then mix up the ZFX/Z5 or ZFX/Z2, shake really well, put it down so it can start activating as you Z6 the finish. Spray small amount of Z6 on your pad, apply Zaino. Remember: THIN THIN THIN! IT SHOULD BE HARD TO SEE IT!! Let dry & wipe off. Next coat, again quick Z6 spray on the finish, apply Zaino again, dry & wipe. You can do this 3 times in one day. After that, no more Zaino for at least 24 hours.

Next time, Z6 spray finish, again with Zaino etc...

Enjoy the beauty of all the work and Zaino. :up

Thanks for all the great info ! I think I'll be printing this one out. I'll post some pics once I'm done in a week or so.

You post the pix for Danski .. I'll see it when I get to Kelowna .. Nice to see another black Zainoed car.

Well I broke down and bought a Porter Cable random orbital polisher from the local Crappy Tire ( Canadian Tire ) since it was so highly recomended here on Autopia. I've decided to go with Meguires polishing products prior to my Zaino applications. This is how I'm going to be prepping my Z;

Wash extremely well with Dawn using a sheep skin wash mitt and two bucket method.

Clay Bar ( Autopia's Glide, Block and Waffle kit )

Apply Meguires Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner

Wash with Z7 and dry

Meguires #9 Swirl Remover

Meguires #81 Hand Polish

Wash again with Z7 and Dry

I'm going to be using PakShak Microfiber towels to remove any polish and Autopia's Magic Microfiber for the final buff. I want to see what Zaino can do given a flawless finish to start from. I'll post some pics in a week or so once I receive all of my items in the mail. Thanks for any experienced advice or tips.
