ive waited till the weekend to clean the car. in fact, tom will be the day. however, auto detailer i was going to by my blue bar clay from is closed on the weekends, doh!

is the clay that comes with the instant detailer from Meguiers that you can get at Auto Zone or Walmart ok? how much (oz) comes with that? 17oz?

your thoughts?

im going to ONR, clay, Poli Seal, Opti Seal, OCW the car tomorrow. thanks

I dont mind using it when my stock of others are low. Its pretty mild. I believe its 2 80 gram bars which means its a little over 5.5 oz.

but for my personal car (im no professional detailer) just a car owner looking to clean his machine, its enough?

Yea definitely. Ive read people say its smeary but it might be their lube. Ive never experienced anything negative about it except that its mild (which isnt really a negative since its not marketed as an aggressive clay).

I clay while im using ONR. Before you dry the panel, just go over it with the clay. Than dry off.

All clay comes from pretty much one source. They've allowed formulation for various vendors for aggressiveness, color, etc. but the Meguires clay is fine. I'm not a fan of their QD/lube though

I have it and it is very mild, dont know your situation (paint contamination) but if I cant mar/scratch then nobody can, make sure that you use a lot of lube though, no pun intended

it will be put on a fairly brand new car. 2 week old G8 GT....that should be ok no?

I might have this wrong (sorry) but I think you are supposed to wait a month for the paint to ???mature??? or something I read on here to do stuff like that, I might be wrong (probably am) but dont want you to messup your new car

btw you have to post pics

You only call 2 weeks old "fairly" brand new? Lol. No reason to clay bar 2 week old paint IMO. I have also heard you should wait a month till you start doing much of anything to the paint.

well the car already had 2800 miles on it. i put about 50k miles a year for work. also, the car had a April 08 build date. its been around for awhile.

clay to get the brake dust off when they are transported, fall out etc.

that clay is really mild

April 08?? is more than a year old car, at this point you should be fine
