Meguiar's has offered a paste wax system for almost 55 years, this is just new technology that offers better results, more pulls and dramatically safer for the end-use to apply, (The chemists removed all of the carcinogens and toxic ingredients common to these types of products. Meguiar's new Velocity mold release products also don't have the nasty odor most of the competitors products have. If you want to take my word for it you can, but I'm telling you, most of the liquid products smell so horrible, it's hard to be in the same room when you start applying them.
The mould relaese waxes also some limited use in foundries for pattern stripping from sand moulds, but the chemicals used can be pretty aggressive and the durability is limited. At an old-time foundry I used to work at, they used a range of waxes for mould release, including #16! I snaffled up 3 tins, of which the last one is almost finished, but theres a few more details left in it yet!
The only problem with foundries is the concerntrated industrial fall-out, it can literally cake your car with fine metallic particles similar to paint over-spray in a very short period. I dont work in a foundry anymore, I have a cushy desk job supplying them products - much better for car paint work!
