Meguiars UQD

So I've been using DG Aquawax over a variety of LSP's on my alabaster silver accord. I've read some pretty good reviews about UQD. Is it worth buying UQD over Aquawax? I really don't need to fill my garage with more things that are the same

UQD is a great product, but at $10 a bottle can get pricey. i find myself reaching for AW for ease of use, good durabilty, and more economical as well...

I like it and I've used many of the competing QD's. I wouldn't say that it's the best but it's pretty high on my list.

I haven't paid $10 for it as I can always find it for under $8. Even Amazon is selling it for under $8.

It's not intended for use with clay but it is slick and virtually streak free in all kinds of weather.

my bad, i thought he was referring to the ultimate quik wax and not the ultimate quik detailer. i've used a few bottles of the "UQD" and it's okay, but i would rather reach for FK425...

Thanks guys, I had a brain fart and didn't realize it till BigAl3's post. I meant Ultimate Quik Wax. That would be more of an apples to apples comparision.

My take on UQW... I like the fact that it is a wowo and doesn't stain textured plastic or leave any dust. It does seem to add a reasonable dose of slickness. It seldom streaks. Like a sealant, it initially is not as glossy and wet looking as it becomes the next day. I believe this is a combination of polymers and natural waxes.

I do like the fact that it works well on glass and plastic trim and I find it to be better on glass than RainX. It leaves a very nice sheen on black plastic trim that doesn't wash off in the rain. I've stopped using trim detailers or vinyl dressings on my exterior trim and just use UQW after every wash. Looks nice on chrome and stainless as well.

Overall, for $7, I like the product.

If you have the money and urge to try something new try it. Me personally, AW works too well for me to want to try anything else.

You can get a gallon of AW for less than 35. 35 wont get you close to a half gallon of UQW

Having used a boatload of instant detailers, not one of them is remotely close to liquid performance spray cleaner/polish. Aerosol can, and it spews a waxy substance that wipes on and evaporates quickly leaving a gloss that is so deep no wax including megs #16 looks nearly as amazing. And this from a spray detailer. Actually i don't know what you;'d call it tho it says detailer on the can. Mainly made for bikes, it works on pretty much everything and does things to chrome i have never seen any product do, chrome product or other. the kicker is unlike regular detailer this stuff is very protective and lasts. I don't know how long yet, but so far after a couple weeks the paint on my bike is still slick as he|| and glossy as you can imagine. I generally don't bother much with my car because to me it's transportation and my bike is my baby. But i tried it a week ago and i was blown away unlike i have ever been by any product. the car feels as slick as you can imagine and just glow unlike it even did new, and it's 5 years old. I can't begin to recommend this stuff enough, as i believe it's easily the best car/bike detailing product of any kind i've ever used. ask my neighbor....he tried mine on his $85k beemer and chrome wheels and went right to his PC and ordered 3 cans. And he's like you guys....a detailing freak with a cabinet with probably a thousand bucks worth of high end non OTC products.

It's all i use now. I literally don't need anything else except car wash and clay bar and thats it. I will wax now and then probably to give it a even better base than bare paint, but you can put it on bare paint and it will look incredible. Plus it's so fast you can do a car in about 5-10 min. I don't work for the company, i don't own stock, i don't own it, but i know i sound like it. Thats only because it's that good. If you just want an instant detailer it will blow anything you try away so badly you'll be inclined to throw all the others away. But you will quickly find it's much more than just a QD. trust me.

yep, a gallon of AW is worth every penny IMO... :hifive:

If you are wanting something new, give OCW a try. I really like AW on lighter colors and OCW on darks. OCW has a good glow where AW is very reflective.

Thanks fellas, I've been buying AW by the gallon for a while now, just don't have a real reason to stop. I guess I'll pick some up and give it a shot along with OCW. I'm really trying to resist the urge to buy a bunch more detailing products that may or may not be better than what I have.

Thanks

-Tom

Stop with the crazy talk! With that kind of thinking, you ruin 1/2 the fun of detailing, new products!
