Meguiar's Supreme Shine MF's

This are quickly becoming my favorite MF towel. They are larger than the Pakshak Ultra Plushes (and cheaper) and can be bought locally. They have the nice border like the Pakshak towels and are plush on both sides whereas the Ultras are super plush on one side and fine on the other. Since I QD my car almost every day, I needed a towel that was plush on both sides, and the Meg's MF is just that. The Ultras are more plush and have a deeper pile, but only on one side. The Meg's is plenty plush and I have not had any marring to speak of from using them. They're very soft.

They're also very universal. I have used them for removing polish and wax (although the CBT will always be tops in that), QD duty, wheel cleaning, etc.

Just thought I would pass this along in case anybody was looking for a local alternative to the Pak's or other comparable MFs.

Thumbs up across the board from me. Its one of the few towels that has stayed at the prestigous "paint worthy" level for months and months. The only other one that has done this was the Adam's MF.

I agree. These were some of the first MF products that I bought. I have since tried a different type virtually everytime I have placed an order for new products. I keep coming back to the Meguires. I keep a couple in my truck along with a small bottle of QD just in case.

I do the same. I have a 4 oz. bottle of Adam's Detail Spray and an MF in a Ziploc baggie in each of my cars. Great for those bird bombs and whatever else you may encounter.

Meg's Supreme Shines were my favorites until I bought some Cobra Supreme Super-Plush Deluxe Microfiber Towels from autogeek. Now those have taken 1st place in my collection, they are absolutely wonderful towels! Meg's SS have moved to a very respectable 2nd place.

same here. i have some other microfibers that are plusher (like the one you mentioned) and use those on the paint instead.

I like these towels for some work but the construction quality and plushness is no where near PakShak level. Still a decent bargain towel.

I still think the Ultra Plush from Pak is the best for QD work.

The Ultra's are definitely nice... can't argue that. Shipping is just so darn much from Ranney. It's a shame b/c their customer service is top notch.

Okay, I'm convinced. But today, the local Kmart was out of Meguiar's MF. :(

I'm not paying shipping to the 808 for a $4 towel, so I will continue to check stores here. :)

Peace.

I know this post is really old but my question is about Meguiars supreme shine microfiber (and cd test).

First of all I live in Greece so I cannot find easy cheap and good mf towels. I have found some decent mf locally that they cost 9$ the pack of four mf 16"X16". They seems ok but I wanted to try some with more quality so I bought some Meguiars supreme shine microfiber that cost me $30 the pack of three.(I know you buy them a lot cheaper :( )

Are these Meguiars mf any good? They do not seem to me nor plushier or softer that the cheap one I was buying.(except the lining that in the cheap ones I was buying is terrible so I cut it out with a scissor)

I cd test the cheap one the Meguiars supreme shine, a meguiars WW (just for comparison) and a high quality mf I have bought locally (3.75$ for one 16X16 towel but it is a 30-70 polyamide Polyester towel) {all the other are 20-80}. The best towel after my test was the light blue (the "expensive" one I buy locally). To my disappointment meguiars supreme was the worst :( (only ww was worse than supreme but I already know that Megs WW are not so good and soft).

About the cd test

1) All towels was brand new and have never been washed.

2) I rub them against the cd with light to moderate pressure with no lubricant at all.

Now some more questions

1) Is cd test reliable? I think that cd surface is so soft that even the best towel after a while will create some very light scratches.

here what I got with megs supreme

The other two mf create less and take more rubbing time to create scratches (sorry no photos as it was impossible to catch some good ones)

Photos of the mf

the big yellow is the Megs WW, the smaller yellow Megs supreme, the light blue one the "expensive" (70-30) and the blue on is the cheap one.

I still have the same 2 supreme shine MFs that I bought probably 2-3 years ago. They have held up to the test of time, no tears or rips, still together.

BUT, they are no longer absorbent no matter what I try. Because of this, I have delegated them to dingy duty, where they still hold up against grease and grime.

Wait, I actually use one as my gun cleaning cloth.. it may not absorb water but it'll hold onto solvent and lubricant pretty well!

As to your "no lubricant at all" statement. You should do the test using the same medium that you'll be using on you car (QD, wash shampoo, etc.), and using the same amount of force that you'll be using on your paint.

As to your question, "Is cd test reliable?" It is better than no test at all if done correctly. A CDRW disc tends to be pretty soft, so if you see no marring or scratches the MF should be safe for your paint. If I recall correctly, and it has been several years since I used one, a CDRW scratches up fairly easily. Many of us use a commercial CD such as the free AOL and other free CD's given away at various stores.

thx I try again with a commercial cd as I believe that does not exist a mf that does not mar a cdrw :P (they are so soft :( )
