Meguiars range - is it too big?

Not having a go at Meguiars, but it seems to me that their range of products is way too many, meaning that a lot of very good products are hidden amongst a number of average products? And as a consequence, they have A lot of over-lapping products ( ie perform a very similar job with very little to distinguish between the two ).



As an example, I would have never known about how good DACP was unless I had read it here, and I am still struggling to find it in Australia.



Perhaps Meguiars see their large range as a strength, but as consumer I find it confusing and painful. My thoughts are that they should consolidate their range of products by narrowing down the choices consumers have to 1 or 2 key products per product type.



Am I alone in my thinking here?

I agree with you. Don't get me wrong here, I use some Meguair's products, but I too get confused especially when it comes to their consumer line. For example, they have like 3 or 4 different leather cleaners, numerous car washing soaps, etc. While I'm sure we all would agree that meguiars makes solid products, I find myself buying something else at times.

I guess this is what happens when an enthusiast's company feels the need to compete with Turtle Wax, Blue Coral, and Armor All. I noticed this trend at SEMA 2002 and was bothered by it.



Trying to be all things to all people, it appears. Not good IMO.

My suggestion would be to get one of their Detailers catalogs and one of their regular catalogs. It makes comparing products between their lines a snap.

I too find it easy to understand their line, consumer and pro but it has taken some questions and time but now other companies I struggle with. It just depends what you are use to using and I only use meguiars. I am finding that they might have multiple products in a same line like their polishes, But.... One might be better for BC/CC paint one gives better results on single stage paint one is formulated for a rotary buffer only and another might be used by hand only and so on.
