Hello fellow detailers



I like and use Meguiars products. #6,#7,#9,#20 and I also have Eagle One pure Carnauba. I have heard alot of combinations and would like some of your guys/gals input on the Meguiars line.



Like the combination of progress of maybe #6 or #9 to #7 to #20 and followed by the pure carnauba? For the ulimate shine?



Just looking for some of the combos of Meguiars waxes some of you have used.
 
Meguiar's makes some very good product, maybe not the bestg, but they can be found locally and are not that expensive. Sure you pay a little more than armour All or Turtle Wax, but the results are better. I'm not a major fan of their consumer line, I tned to stick with the mirror glaze and body shop lines.



I tried the Dual Action Clear Polish and did not like it. It was so hard to remove. Sames goes for 3M Finesse It II. A real PIA to remove. I like Automotive International's abrasives.



I was a major Meguiars #7/#26 fan. It wax fairly easy to work with and gave nice results.



I now have a gallon of Meguiars #26 wax in liquid form (only used to buy paste waxes because I liked doing it by hand and uses less product, plus less additives to break the paste down to a liquid) but it spread so nicely with the PC, a thin and even coat. I now give the thumbs up to Meguiars #26 liquid.



Do you have a Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher?



For the ultimate shine by hand (little to no swirls in paint), clay (AutoZone, Clay Magic for $10), Meguiars #7 (two application for maximum coverage), then Eagle One Paste Wax (the #20 has cleaners but provides a nice shine, so if you use #20, you may skip the #7 since its basically oils and fillers.) If you #20 you can apply a coat of the Eagle One paste wax over the #20 after a few days to let the #20 cure.

I use there machine glaze and swirl remover (body shop line)

Depends on what the car needs if I use there fine cut or medium cut.. I have 3ms stuff too, and they seem to be a notch above meguiars in my tests. Then i top it with sourvern wax or blitz.

You should a PC with most of there stuff (except wax of course)jeff
 
I haven't graduated to upgrade to a polisher yet so I do everything my hand. Someday I hope I will master the polisher thing but right now it all by hand only.:nixweiss



And on that note your thoughts on polishing/waxing in circular or side to side motion. Its easier in the circular motion but does that create swirls? :confused:
 
This weekend I an all Meguiars process on my paint and it turned out great. I started by dawn washing and claying the car with Mothers clay, then I rewashed with Gold Class and a quick clay on spots I thought needed additional work (this worked great with the extra lube the GC offered). Then I used #9 2.0 on the entire car followed with a coat of #7 and finally #26. The paint is smooth as glass and shines nicely. Give it a shot, but definately clay the car first...even if you think your paint is smooth you will be surprised. :up
