Meguiars NXT Tech Wax - Durability?

I have used NXT paste and liquid . THe durability really bums me out because I love the initial shine that is produced.
If I had the time to apply NXT once a week I would love this stuff.

I used to be a a HUGE Meguiar's fan, I still am to some extent. I never liked NXT that much, although I can't put my finger on why. A lot of people say that NXT is the consumer version of M21, but I just think that M21 is better ( for no apparent reason). I never find myself reaching for NXT, even though I have 3 or 4 bottles around the house. I ususally let others use it on their cars as it is a great one step "filler" product.

M21 is better than NXT for the same reason all of the Meguiar's Professional series of products are better than the consumer line: the consumer line of products are diluted versions to prevent the Joe Average Consumer from inadvertently damaging their finish. None of the Meguiar's consumer line of products have the durability that the professional line has. M21, M26, and M20 all last far longer.

BTW, the waxes or sealants that leave residue on black trim usually do because of cleaners that are added to them.

Meguiar's exaggerations was one of the reasons I went looking for other products. Tried Zaino, and never looked back.

I know this thread was posted awhile ago, but I'm still gonna post my thoughts. I really disliked this product. First of all, it isn't carnauba wax, thats a fact. No carnauba. Zilch. This is Meguiar's claim:
"After years of research into advanced polymer chemistry, Meguiar’s® has created a wax powered by Engineered Synthetic Polymer (ESP) technology. The result, NXT Generation Tech Wax®, is the most technologically advanced synthetic protectant for paint available for today’s modern finishes and clear coats. Our breakthrough formulation goes on and comes off easy without a powdery residue to visually eliminate fine swirls, protect against UV damage, and leave your finish “amped up” – with a deep, wet-look shine that is unbelievably intense. ESP technology creates a tough polymer bond for xtreme, durable protection."

This isn't really a wax, but a sealant. Wax is generally referred to as containing naturally substance (ex. carnauba wax). I did use it once because I was in Autozone and saw it and read the back which persuaded me to buy it. I will buy anything, just fyi. :) I used it and noticed a little more shine, but it didn't look very wet. I left it on, and a few days later the little shine that had been there, was gone. I'd say spend a few extra bucks and get a higher quality wax like Natty's white/blue/RED. The red is great.

NOTE: I'm not sure but I assume that you should leave 12-24 hours between coats to allow for it to cure since it's somewhat of a sealant. Correct me if anyone knows otherwise.

This week I polished my Black show car with PB-PP and it looked awesome. Since I had a couple bottles of NXT I thought I would use it and then top it with Duragloss AW since I knew the NXT had zero durability.
I applied the NXT let it sit 30 minutes and buffed it off and I could nor believe it the NXT had dulled the surface it had a noticeable loss in gloss from what the PB_PP had..
I waited 36 hours for it to cross link and topped it with the AW and it ramped up the gloss but the PB PP polish left a much better shine than the NXT.
Tomorrow is the day for trash pickup and my two bottles of NXT Will be in it.
I posted earlier in this thread but NXT is even worse than what I thought Hell a good quick detailer would be a better LSP than NXT

To me and in my business, NXT (liquid) is one of the best out there. It gives a great look to any color.........even whites. I've experienced 6-8 weeks durability on numerous vehicles. If done right, it can be one the easiest LSP's to apply/remove.

I'm seeing a lot of negative comments on this product and that's well within everyone's right to have their own opinion. One thing that I try to remember is that it is an OTC product and not a professional line. Yes, it is from a reputable manufacturer, but, IMO, it was designed for ease of use for those who may not be into detailing like some of us are.

^ agreed ! for a quick fix, it is a good product, but I am still trying to get rid of all my nxt products! I am not too fond of the nxt line at all.

NXT wax is their most durable over the counter wax they make, but get into their Professional line, then let's talk..
I have M16 paste wax by meguiars. Try, I mean try, to get your hands on that...

16 is still available...from canada..and at a reasonable price also....

I will say one thing about NXT..it has a real nice look to it on certain color paints..blues...yellow .red.. and black..it looks super...just wish it lasted as good as it looks....if Meg's tweaked it to last a little longer it would be a killer product....

M21 would be my choice of the Meg's line for a sealant...has the look of NXT but does last a bit longer....

Their are a lot of of otc products that are MUCH better for lasting. Meguiars says that it is there best protecting, but the gloss does not last.
